We drove down to Prince William Forest, and I ran the Blue course from last weekend's QOC local event. I figured that this terrain is the most relevant to the classic champs, and so it made sense to come run here.
I felt strong most of the way and pushed hard for most of the course. I made one mistake of a about a minute and had a couple of smaller hesitations, but otherwise felt good technically. Inara, Barney, and Alli hiked in the park while I ran, and I picked them up at Turkey Run Ridge after finishing my course. Excellent afternoon.

Note

Woke up with a sore back this morning, so taking a precautionary day off. Unrelatedly, Alli and I decided not to go up for the DVOA weekend because of the complicated logistics, including the no-dog policy and the challenging getting-to-the-start and back-from-the-finish logistics on Sunday. DVOA worked hard to try and accommodate us, but in the end, it was just too much hassle. Instead, I will plan to go up by myself for just the long race on Sunday.

Alli, Inara, and I spent a wonderful long weekend in Winter Park, CO with our friends Tim and Oana and their baby Lily. So much fun to see Inara start interacting with another baby! It was great to get out for hikes each day and spend some time soaking in the jacuzzi afterwards. Excellent trip, great friends, fantastic mountain scenery, and a nice escape from the realities of DC for a few days!

Easy elliptical session in the evening just to get my legs moving. After a series of flight cancellations and delays (thanks United!), I ended up getting home a bit after 3am and had to get up just past 7 to get Barney, so not much sleep. My bag ended up in Houston. Needless to say, I did not fly through Houston - just my bag did. It finally got to DC about 24 hours after I did.

I went for a short run when we got back from a gorgeous hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. I couldn't resist getting out again on this beautiful sunny day in the mountains. Ran in an o-top and shorts and got sweaty - a big contrast from full winter running gear the day before. Climbed up to about 9200 feet and then ran back down.
