Orienteering race 37:22 [3] *** 4.0 km (9:21 / km)
12c shoes: VJ Supra 2014-1
O in the Pines, my first A-meet running M35.
I had yet another setback in my attempt to get back to regular training after all my back problems, so I basically didn't run for over a week before this A-meet, and had no idea if I'd be able to get around the courses at all.
As it was, however, I got around and had a great time. I just love orienteering, and the pain seems a little more bearable when adrenaline kicks in. Anyway, I had a decent race, losing about 1 minute on #4, but fairly clean otherwise in pretty tough terrain. A lot of people talked about problems reading the trails on the map, but I thought they were mapped exactly as was explained in the meet notes and had no real problems. I ended up winning the red course and being less than two minutes from superman's time for the course. While it doesn't mean a whole lot, only Ethan, who won blue, had faster min/km for the day.
This race left me with some hope that my shape, both physical and technical, was not so far gone that it couldn't be found again if I were to get rid of these back problems and start training again.
The rest of the day was spent with wonderful friends, mostly eating things
