After having all the time in the world to get ready, I was frantically sprinting to the start and made it there 30 seconds after I was called up. Oops.

US Long distance champs

I was not sure how my shape would be for this weekend - I started consistently training again in May after a 7 month break with the goal of getting into good enough shape to contribute to the US cause at NAOC. This was the major test of this shape, with the hope of walking away from this weekend with a medal or two.

This race went well. I felt quite good physically and really enjoyed the course. I made sure to save some energy for the end, seeing that the last section of the course went through the most detailed area. I still made some mistakes, losing almost a minute on 11 and being very tentative on the way to 12. Part of this was caused by my inability to read the 1:15000 map in that detailed area.

Hill intervals same place as last week, Klingle Road. Did these in the morning and felt very sluggish and stiff in the beginning, but better as the workout went on. Times were a little better than last week.
