Running 8:00 [2] 1.6 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: 2009 VJ Falcons

Warm-up

Orienteering 45:33 [4] *** 6.25 km (7:17 / km)
13c shoes: 2009 VJ Falcons

WCOC Local meet at Sessions Woods, red course.
Felt good running through the woods, though butt hurt a lot when I tried to pick up the speed at all on trails or roads. Really nice terrain and a fun course. Had a couple of small bobbles and a questionable route choice on the long leg coming back, but reasonably pleased with my time and impressed with Ross' 41.
A lot of fun to be finding actual controls that someone else hung, for a change!

Running 46:19 [2] 7.72 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: 2009 VJ Falcons

A run around the trails at Sessions Woods with Will after the o-course. Felt tired.

Orienteering 19:09 [3] ***** 2.1 km (9:07 / km)
10c shoes: 2009 VJ Falcons

Memory-O. Started about a minute after Ross. Memorized first control, took off, got lost. Was tired and unmotivated, ready to walk back to the finish when I saw Ross running around, also looking lost. Fine, time to get back into it. Saw Pavlina coming from behind, looking confident. Ross and I shamelessly followed her to 1, then Ross took off. After this, I had a better feeling for the 1:5000 scale, and the navigation went better. Clean to 2, but well behind Ross, who was flying. Took the trail around to 3, another spike, Ross leaving as I am coming in. Watch Ross leave in a strange direction. Get to 4, all alone. Orienteer cleanly the rest of the way, never see him again. Real tired on the last few controls, but definitely enjoyed the training. Thanks to WCOC for a fine day of orienteering!
Ice cream, mini-golf, fajitas, taboo, and spades followed.

Orienteering 1:43:15 [1] **** 7.38 km (14:00 / km)
shoes: 2009 VJ Falcons

We got the car back and it works! It now has a car alarm, LoJack, and a club.

Training on Trout Brook with Kat. We started with a line-O, and then I shadowed her around a course, moving pretty slowly most of the way, and trying to read all the details on the map. I like Trout Brook.

Running 12:00 [2] 2.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: 2009 VJ Falcons

To and from the parking lot

Orienteering 52:23 intensity: (17:50 @1) + (14:50 @2) + (19:43 @4) **** 5.6 km (9:21 / km)
shoes: 2009 VJ Falcons

WCOC Mid-week training at Osbornedale with 8 people in attendance tonight. We ran three loops on the nicer part of the map. I hanged 1 one of the loops, then ran the other two hard, then ran the first one easy in reverse order. Fun training, and still enough daylight to read the map. Thanks to Will and Clint for hanging the other loops and to Kat for designing the courses!
