Half Dome Hike: Yosemite National Park

Started at 4:30, went up Mist Trail, then onto Half Dome Trail. Got to the bottom of the stairs at 8:30. The stairs were exhausting and the first sight of the cables is rather terrifying! Nothing like I imagined. Climbing the cables is hard work and the go on longer than what one hopes!
The view from the top is breathtaking! And I finally convinced myself to sit on the edge for that iconic picture moment but it is very terrifying!
Spend about 2 hours on the top.
This is a bucket list trip for me and completely worth it! The granite mountains are so different to anything I have ever seen! Highly recommend it and it's worth the long flight!
The cables coming down were very busy which was nerve racking as we had to stop and start and pass many people who were coming up!
We then started to descend!
Knees and feet started to get very sore!
At some point my phone picked up signal and I got a message from Ry's brother, asking Ry to call asap. My heart sank! We started running down the rest of the way to get to the restaurant for signal so Ry could phone home. We found out that Ry's dad had passed away during the early hours of the morning.
We had a quick shower and started the 2 day journey home!

Hiking 6:00:00 [3] 15.5 km (23:14 / km) +975m 17:40 / km

Bucket list day! Hiked the Four Mile Trail to Glacier Point to get a good view of Half Dome in all her splendor! The 3,000+ foot tall granite cliffs are breathtaking and very different to our mountains at home. Weather was good and it just was truly beautiful!
We have secured permits for the Half Dome cables tomorrow! Excited does not even begin to explain how I am feeling!

Mountain Biking 2:00:00 [3] 28.8 km (4:10 / km)

Ry and I rode from Pier 39, over Golden Gate Bridge, through the town of Sausalito and finished in Tiburon.
Catching the ferry bactk to Pier 39.
The trip took 6 hours but that includes picture stops, cycling slowly over the Golden Gate Bridge to give it enough time to sink in, coffee stop in this picturesque town and the ferry ride!
Absolutely perfect day!
