The snow (1/4".....wow!) finally made its way to the deepest part of the banana belt by late afternoon. The wind had died down by the time I got the last tray of cookies out of the oven and the car cleaned, so I set out on a very pleasant ride. Of course, the snow makes everything brighter and magical. Once I got on the Greenway, I turned my lights off. Since the Greenway is freshly graded and packed, it is very smooth and frozen, so even that tiny bit of snow made it look like a very long white carpet runner stretched out before me.
I rode to the Arner and back, enjoying the extreme peace and quiet. A few cottontails and one white tail startled me as they crossed right in front of me (especially the white tail!) I didn't feel a need to put my front light on until I was nearly back in town.
Then I pedalled down to check out the Festival of Lights which always looks better with snow.
Almost as good as doing that route on skis!
