Gravel Bike (Rail trail) 1:05:00 [3] 15.4 mi (14.2 mph)

Today was the ceremonial opening of the new bike connector trails up by Windsor, so I thought it would be appropriate to ride there. I cheated a bit and drove to Harrow, cutting 10 miles off my usual route (But I did enjoy the extra 20 minutes at home, drinking Baileys-infused coffee....a Saturday morning treat I have missed out on the last few weeks).

Gravel Bike (Pavé and gravel single tr) 1:10:00 [2] 11.9 mi (10.2 mph)

After chatting with a few peeps from the local biking community, we listened to the politicians made some short speaches about the importance of cycling infrastructure to this area. Now, all the municipalities in Essex County are connected by The Great Trail (formerly the Trans Canada Trail) or bicycle-friendly connecting trails/routes. A LOT of money has been spent in the last couple years, adding to and improving the Greenway, as well as adding paved shoulders on County roads whenever they undergo improvements (which we have duly noted in our travels by bike).
Then we divided into two groups and our group rode the paved trail into LaSalle then some gravel single track through the woods (SCAR 2016 routing), then some of the Herb Grey Parkway bike path.
There were all types of bikes, from beaters to Bromptons.
A very positive experience/event.
And the rain held off!

Gravel Bike (Rail trail) 1:11:00 [3] 15.6 mi (13.2 mph)

Biked back to Harrow. A bit of a headwind.
Then I made my first #coffeeneuring stop of the season.
Life is better with coffee and bikes.
