Westchester County Classic Middle at Westmoreland Sanctuary on a very hot and humid afternoon (85C+). Walked the whole course but felt good about navigation for the most part on more complex and rocky but fun terrain.

Model map at Ward Pound Ridge for Westchester County Classic. Lots of rock features that weren't mapped. Green was at least one shade lighter than on midwest maps - some of it didn't even seem green compared to maps I'm used to. Linear marshes are streams with some rocks and bright green huge-leaved plants. Lesson learned - navigate on contours rather than rock features until close to the control circle.

Y MF Fartleks in Windcombe. 5K perceived on E/W short streets and easy on N/S streets. Hot and humid evening made estimating pace difficult. I think I ran too fast on the 5K and 10K intervals.

SMOC Orange course at Crooked Lake. Went intending to do Green but hadn't preregistered and the green maps were sold out. I started out during a shower and did well on the actual Orange part of the course but then from C7 on, the course was a hard advanced course on a map that was missing a lot of vegetation. Came across three groups and went ahead of them almost to C8 S of the gravel pit but then got distracted and veered off toward them and far away from the control. I should have ignored them but the green that wasn't on the map made it hard to see contours. Bailed without finding C8 because the course was closing. A long way to drive for half of an Orange course.
