Orienteering race 33:54 [4] 4.1 km (8:16 / km) +70m 7:37 / km

Park Race 8: Crystal Palace

Fitness seems to have improved since the last race in Grovelands Park and I made it round with only very mild discomfort in the knee. In my excitement at the prospect of getting to the end I didn't look at the map after #18, missing the last control placed 60m from the finish!!! I don't mind too much though- 18 controls is more than I was expecting. Elsewhere I lost time on #18 as I didn't notice the path between the out of bounds areas was on a bridge and #7, looking for a while on the lower terrace; a result of not understanding the symbolic control descriptions (must learn those). Overall a positive race despite the result.

Took this class at David Lloyd as part of my 1 week trial membership (no intention of joining with free gyms at uni but a KP is a member here). Sweaty, sweaty!! Need to remember to bring a hand towel to save me wiping my face on my shirt every minute. And to get some contact lenses.

Raleigh R100

Tried usual route but with Rickmansworth High Street which worked well. Another hot day and I didn't have water which started affecting me early on. Had no money to buy any but Moor Park Fine Foods very kindly gave me some. I think the lesson here is to take both water and some change on rides.
