Easter day 2, Long distance race on Mt Alexander. After a frustrating morning with the kids and going the wrong way to the start twice i only just made the start in time, less than 30 sec. Managed to get focused for the race in the jog to the start anyway and really enjoyed the peace of just being out in the forest ticking things off. Took pretty conservative routes early on with probably too much climbing but it got me into the map. Not feeling good physically but kept plugging away mainly relying on the clearings and big gullies for navigating. Got a bit confused on the phi loop as i had the wrong descriptions and lost 30 sec or so trying to work out why the control had the wrong code. On the plus side i started to catch quite a few people around here which gave me a mental boost and from here i started to feel stronger physically. Ran straight on the long leg which was a good option but then got a little scrappy and missed a bit on 17 and then 3min on 19. After this i ran well to the finish pushing very hard on the long leg back, but missed the 3rd last just after i caught reubs. Enjoyable but frustrating race, but realistically would have taken an awesome race to match it with simon and couldnt have got craney today so should be satisfied.
