With the wheel. Set up a 100 m pace count and the compass course. This is a course that requires use of compass and map together. In an open field, make a grid of 12.5 meter squares, 50 m wide and 75 m deep. At each intersection a number is painted on the ground. The map is white paper with a dot (OCAD boulder symbol) at each intersection. A 5 or 6 control course requires visiting particular intersections on sequence. Accuracy is self checked by matching the code number on the map to the number on the ground. This could be made competitive or could be graded by using placing an SI control unit on the ground at each point. But today I just did it with self checking.
