Running 50:19 [3] 8.93 km (5:38 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Bridges & Heirisson run, mild Freo Doctor, still quite warm. Didn't see the kangaroos, but plenty of camera-toting tourists, including a couple who stopped me and asked if there really were any, and were they dangerous. Yes, and no.

Wednesday Dec 29, 2010 #

Running 48:48 [3] 8.7 km (5:37 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Had planned to do a loop around Margaret river mouth, Gnarabup & Prevelly but a bushfire last evening had produced too much smoke, so it was back to the Rails for Trails. Out to the 5th bridge again, but this time on the return I detoured to the Weir, meaning the long climb back to Wallcliffe Rd was replaced by a slightly longer, and steeper climb.

Satisfying 5 days of activity - need to keep it up! (Log doesn't include a couple of 4-7km walks, which I don't generally record.)

Tuesday Dec 28, 2010 #

Road cycling 2:10:00 [3] 52.9 km (2:27 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

South on Caves Rd this time, cool change had come in overnight and we were riding into a stiff Southerly with occasional drizzle. Not for too long, left at Redgate and across to Witchcliffe, then South again for 1km on the Hwy before turning towards Rosaglen at Davis Rd. Nice countryside, good road, few vehicles. Back via Rosabrook to the Hwy, then cut across to Wallcliffe via Boodjidup & Railway Terrace. Brekky at home today as we are heading to Cullen's for lunch.

Monday Dec 27, 2010 #

Road cycling 2:10:00 [3] 52.5 km (2:29 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

From Isaac's Ridge, up Caves Rd to Gracetown (only 6 cars passed us in 12km), across to Bussell Hwy on Cowaramup Bay Rd, 2km on Hwy (there's a bike lane on this section) until right onto Burnside, then back into town along Carter's for coffee and muffin, then back along Wallcliffe. Easterly, only gusting occasionally, a few kms (Cowaramup Bay and Burnside) where the surface was dead, but overall quite a nice ride.

Running 42:38 [3] 7.9 km (5:24 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Rails trail at Margaret River from Wallcliffe Rd to the 5th bridge over Big Brook and back. The first 2 Big Brook bridges after Carters Rd are new steel cantilevers, but all the other timber bridges are still in reasonable nick. Last 2km back up to Wallcliffe Rd was a long, steady climb.
NB - noticed during 2nd run on 29th that the original wooden bridges are still there underneath the two new steel cantilevers.

Saturday Dec 25, 2010 #

Road cycling 1:54:00 [3] 41.4 km (2:45 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Xmas Day Margaret River ride - from accommodation detoured around Wilderness & Yates Rds, South on Caves Rd then across to Witchcliffe, back along Gnangawary then Boodjidup to MR, then back down Wallcliffe Rd to accoommodation. Very strong SE gusts, quite a bit of windblown leaves and branches on the road, especially in the Karri areas on Caves and the bluegum plantation along Gnangawary. Nothing open in the town or anywhere else, so no real coffee to be had today.

Thursday Dec 23, 2010 #

Running 41:53 [3] 7.4 km (5:40 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Bridges from ABC, very hot, excused myself from the Heirisson section since it was a) hot, b) Xmas and c) planning a ride or run every day for 5 days while down south from tomorrow.

Tuesday Dec 21, 2010 #

Running 43:28 [4] 7.9 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Kings Park run, tried to keep up with Kellie as she blasted her way through the first half in 20:30 (haven't gone that fast since May), then she ran away up the hills leaving me and her mate Casey far behind. Casey was more stuffed than me, so I stopped and jogged around 2-3 times to wait for her to show the way - probably around a 41 otherwise. Very humid.

Sunday Dec 19, 2010 #

Orienteering 39:59 [3] 5.69 km (7:02 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Xmas novelty race at Nedlands. Was standing around looking for/writing answers for a fair bit of the 40 mins.

Road cycling 48:00 [3] 18.0 km (2:40 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Ride over to Dad's (Bull Creek), into a brisk SEly, but have known worse.

Road cycling 42:00 [3] 18.0 km (2:20 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Home from Dad's, not a full tailwind, at times felt like a crosswind.

Saturday Dec 18, 2010 #

Road cycling 1:58:47 [3] 44.8 km (2:39 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

ERC ride, Binnsey tagged along.

Friday Dec 17, 2010 #

Running 43:57 [3] 8.0 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

2 laps of Lake Monger, incl. the two small hills along Gregory St.

Wednesday Dec 15, 2010 #

Running 49:01 [3] 8.8 km (5:34 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Bridges/Heirisson run, a day early due to *%^$#&@ meeting on Thursday evening. Saw all 6 kangaroos standing by the track posing for a couple of tourists. They are all fully grown now, no sign of the population expanding.

Tuesday Dec 14, 2010 #

Running 42:17 [4] 7.9 km (5:21 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Kings Park run, noone to push me so back to the 42s!

Sunday Dec 12, 2010 #

Road cycling 2:03:54 [3] 47.4 km (2:37 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Around the river with Binnsey, me in low range almost all the way. Strong headwind once we turned inland at Port Beach.

Saturday Dec 11, 2010 #

Road cycling 1:30:48 [3] 42.32 km (2:09 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Ride with Elite Racing Cycles (ERC) group, very nice morning.

Orienteering race 43:52 [4] 7.92 km (5:32 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Metro race at Mt Claremont. Picked a reasonable route - better than last week anyway. got caught by BB around my 8th or 9th control, got ahead again with a better route through the centre of the map, but he came past me again just before the last control. Then I stuffed up by going the wrong way around the school to the finish and Ameko snuck in front of me too. Still, a big field on the long course today, so I think I ended up around the middle of the field or just above (thanks Tooms!).

Note: Wow! 11th/27!

Thursday Dec 9, 2010 #

Running 49:37 [3] 8.8 km (5:38 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Bridges & Heirisson, only mild SW breeze tonight.

Tuesday Dec 7, 2010 #

Running 40:57 [4] 7.9 km (5:11 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Kings Park run - faster tonight but probably due to having 2 others (Ed & Ken) to push me along rather than the new shoes.

Sunday Dec 5, 2010 #

Road cycling 1:27:09 [3] 32.63 km (2:40 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Leisurely Bassendean ride with JB.

Saturday Dec 4, 2010 #

Road cycling 1:28:30 [3] 37.05 km (2:23 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Ride with Elite Racing cycles group, usual route through the city, along MB Rd, Thomas, Nicholson, Lemnos, then up Reabold and back thru Claremont. I peeled off at Claremont and came home along the rail path.

Orienteering race 51:20 [4] 9.1 km (5:38 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Metro race at Woodlupine - a very tRicky course, and didn't have good route choice.

Thursday Dec 2, 2010 #

Running 48:47 [3] 8.8 km (5:33 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Bridges-Heirisson run, struggling into a howling SWly gale from km1-5. By the time I rounded the end of Heirisson was too stuffed to use the now tail wind to make up lost time.
