Running 48:19 [3] 9.0 km (5:22 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2140

Bridges-South Heirisson run, very dark again and almost sprained an ankle on a stone going around the island. Needless to say, no roos were evident. First run for these shoes - I've had them a couple of months and done a bit of walking in them. no rain for the past week, so they stayed pretty clean.

Running 39:29 [4] 8.0 km (4:56 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Kings Park - fastest first half for a while, struggled a bit on the last few hills, but still managed a time improvement over last week.

Orienteering race 44:49 [5] **** 5.7 km (7:52 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330

OY event at Malmalling South, technically easier than it should have been on this map. Managed to mess up the easiest control on the course. GPS distance 6.45. Finished 3rd, 10 minutes behind Candyman - I wonder what time Craig would have done.

Running hills 51:59 [4] 10.0 km (5:12 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Hills at Reabold, cool but not as cold as expected, felt pretty good. My route includes a long climb up to the Southern summit, clockwise around the pine plantation (two very steep hills, thankfully not too long), then head West and come back up a long hill to the middle summit, North from there towards the main Reabold Hill including up a steep side track to a lookout. Just before reaching the car park I turn right and head downhill - there is another short, steep uphill after 100m, then its all downhill to a gravel car park off Perry Lakes Drive. I have a cut-off time of 40 minutes at the bottom. If the time is under 40, I have to head back up the other loop of this hill - one of the steepest in the Park. Today I was there in 38.55, and this hill gave me no problems at all.

Running 47:08 [3] 9.0 km (5:14 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Bridges and South Heirisson run - reasonable time despite it being very dark. Didn't see the kangaroos. Found out the other day why their numbers are not increasing. The local rag featured an article about how they are 'thriving' but then went on to say they are all females!

Running 39:44 [4] 8.0 km (4:58 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Kings Park, negative split again although the first half was a little quicker. Felt much slower on the second half than last week, but only one second down.

Orienteering race 28:18 [5] ***** 3.1 km (9:08 / km)
spiked:4/8c shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330

1st leg of State Relays at Peterdine. Brain fade at the start, losing 2 mins on the first leg, and 4 mins on the 3rd. Came in well down, but partner Ben ran great second leg to put us in about 6th.

Orienteering race 24:19 [5] **** 3.4 km (7:09 / km)
spiked:7/7c shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330

3rd leg of State Relays, much better, just a couple of hesitations, pulled up a couple of places and handed over to Ben in about 5th. He then had a great run, winning almost every split, and coming in 2nd overall.

Running 36:29 [3] 7.5 km (4:52 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Kings Park low impact run, seemed a bit of a struggle up the long central sand track, but the faster time explains it.

Friday Jul 17, 2009 #

Running 47:43 [3] 9.0 km (5:18 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Bridges and South Heirisson Island, Friday morning instead of usual Thursday evening. It was blowing a gale from the SW, but probably better than last night when it was blowing a wet gale from the SW. Couldn't see any kangaroos.

Running 39:53 [4] 8.0 km (4:59 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Kings Park Tuesday route, with Cath and Richard until halfway in a steady time of 20:52. Decided to run the second half hard to see what time I could do, and quite happy with 19:01 - now I need to put two fast halves together.

MTB Orienteering race 1:38:50 [4] 22.7 km (4:21 / km)
shoes: Bike: GT Avalanche

MTBO race at Langford Park. A lot of single track, which doesn't suit me, plus a couple of errors - one due to obvious tracks not being mapped, combined with a badly drawn junction. I wasn't the only one to take a wrong turn for 500m. Also had shifter problems - very loose shifter on changing down. 25mins + down on Duncan. Nevertheless an enjoyable event as I haven't been out on the old mtb much this year.

Running hills 45:28 [4] 9.5 km (4:47 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

First run at Reabold for over 6 months. Cool morning, but more sun around than the forecast led me to expect, so warmed up fairly quickly. Quite surprised by the time - better than expected.

Thursday Jul 9, 2009 #

Running 56:34 [3] 10.5 km (5:23 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Bridges and Heirisson Island. Didn't see the kangaroos again, but I did run past 3 pelicans - the largest was huge, must have been 1.5m as it was up to my shoulder.

Tuesday Jul 7, 2009 #

Running 40:16 [4] 8.0 km (5:02 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Kings Park Tuesday run, with Cath until halfway, then she started to pull away as I didn't have much to give on the hills today.

Thursday Jul 2, 2009 #

Running 56:25 [3] 10.5 km (5:22 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Bridges and complete lap of Heirisson - all in the dark so no roo sightings, and had to take it fairly slowly as I couldn't see the ground too well.
