Road cycling 1:55:00 [3] 47.0 km (2:27 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Usual around the river ride (except Mt Henry - bridge path closed), this time with JB who slept in instead of going to her normal 6.30 CRT ride. I suppose having a birthday is some sort of excuse for her. Interesting episode coming down the hill behind Pt Walter when a young guy who had passed us not long before slowed down, spewed all over the road and then nearly rode into me as we passed.

Orienteering race 55:53 [5] * 9.0 km (6:13 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT 2130

Metro event at Mosman Park, no gps. Headed North, and on the way there decided to avoid the big hill and pick up the Eastern controls. Big mistake, resulting in 1-1.5km extra distance. Very warm, very hilly, was stuffed by about 6km, and walked 2 of the last 3km.

Running 48:04 [3] 9.0 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Bridges and (yes its open) Heirisson. Big SW headwind for first half. R calf felt tight for a while, got better. Still 6 roos on the island, they must be used to the annual fireworks by now.

Running 41:33 [3] 8.0 km (5:12 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT 2130

Kings Park run, back on the long option, took it fairly easy on a warm evening (30C). The plan was to stretch out on the last hill up to the War Memorial, and also on the grass alongside Fraser Avenue - both went ok. Should be the final visit to the physio tomorrow.

Road cycling 1:53:00 [3] 44.0 km (2:34 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Across to Leederville then up the Freeway to Reid Hwy, to North Beach, down the coast past City Beach, then Mt Claremont, Claremont, Subi and home. Bike paths most of the way - City of Stirling needs a shake-up. On the road from North Beach to Trigg 2nd carpark - cliff-top path was clogged as usual, then into an early Southwesterly. Was joined by a guy from Mullaloo through the car parks at Scarborough, and we took turns in front until the end of Challenger Parade where he turned around.

Road cycling 2:15:00 [3] 55.0 km (2:27 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

With JB down Kwinana Fwy, then along Roe Hwy to Kenwick Link, back through Cannington, Bentley, Vic Park, Burswood, East Perth.

Running 37:00 [3] 7.0 km (5:17 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT 2130

From East Perth to Bardon Park to check out suitability for OrientShow. Stopped on the way back to do some of the 'outdoor gym' activities in Banks Reserve (similar to the ones in McCallum Park).

Calf not so tight today - didn't forget to wear the tubular bandage. Last visit to physio next Wednesday, and should be right for hills or speed after that.

Running 35:42 [3] 7.0 km (5:06 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT 2130

Double lap of Yokine Reserve, calf was feeling tight in the last couple of kms so slowed down slightly. Forgot to put the tubular bandage on, and too hot for skins (though I did pass one guy and a couple of women wearing them).

Tuesday Jan 20, 2009 #

Running 36:42 [3] 6.5 km (5:39 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT 2130

Short lap of Kings Park, but extra distance due to tracks closed by the weekend fire. Calf felt ok, except a little tight on hills - didn't feel as though it would tear though.

Sunday Jan 18, 2009 #

Running 20:00 [3] 3.5 km (5:43 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Jog around Lake Monger to see if the calf was ok. A little tight on stretching, but didn't feel anything on the run, so looks like I'm back in training.

Road cycling 1:30:00 [3] 36.0 km (2:30 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Afternoon ride over to Bull Creek to see Dad.

Saturday Jan 17, 2009 #

Road cycling 1:26:00 [3] 30.0 km (2:52 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Physio specified no hills and low range - through East Perth along Farmer Freeway, then bike path along Rivervale foreshore, past Ascot between river and racecourse, then over the river at Tonkin Highway and along the North side of it to Bassendean, back along Railway Rd to Bayswater then the bike path along the rail line back to East Perth.

Guessed distance as no gps or bike computer.

Tuesday Jan 6, 2009 #

Running 19 [3] 3.8 km (5 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT 2130

Usual Kings Park run, but after 3km the right calf started to feel very tight. Slowed down, and eventually stopped and walked back to the start with what is probably a slight muscle tear - off to the physio tomorrow.

Sunday Jan 4, 2009 #

Road cycling 1:52:00 [3] 45.7 km (2:27 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Down to Freo via Subi, then across to Canning Bridge, back up the Freeway path. Acted as windbreak for JB (and some dill who jumped on behind us at Canning Bridge, then showed us how well he could sprint just before the Narrows).

Saturday Jan 3, 2009 #

Running hills 52:31 [4] 10.0 km (5:15 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT 2130

Hills run at Reabold, including extra hill (the steep one back up from the first car park on Perry Lakes Dr, parallel to the summit road).
