Orienteering race 45:39 [3] 2.9 km (15:44 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 280

H4 course at Jumbuck, 4.1km. Easy first leg, then hit troubles: got ahead of myself on 1-2, with two roads to cross I thought I was crossing the second, and had to stop to work out why there was a fence in front of me. Then went too high - lost 3 mins on this leg. Lost another minute on 4-5 when I thought I was on line, but hit a track 100m N of the control. Blew nearly 3 minutes on a short downhill leg when I walked right past the control without seeing it. Finally, lost almost 2 mins on a long leg from the last control to the finish. Plenty of features within 100m of the finish, so rather silly course setting to have a 400m navigation leg to the finish.

Note

With all the work involved in School Champs and now NavDash, the shoulders have been too sore to run or ride. Seeing a physio Friday, hopefully can run Jumbuck on Sunday.

MTB Orienteering 48:00 [3] 10.0 km (4:48 / km)
shoes: Bike: GT Avalanche

Pootled around picking up controls. Took a wrong turn just after starting, but eventually managed to find my way back. Tyres still around 50psi from road riding, which caused one mishap, and a bit of walking through a very sandy section.

Orienteering race 14:07 [5] 1.8 km (7:51 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 2nd pair

NavDash Short course at Shenton College, 2.57km on GPS. Lack of fitness a problem, was puffing after the first 25% of the course and starting to make small errors. Slowed a bit, and recovered nav ability, but lost time at 13 (control hidden around an unmapped corner) and 14 where I took the slowest of 2 possible routes.

Road cycling 48:00 [3] 19.0 km (2:32 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Short ride from Perry Lakes after a school session. Shoulders a bit stiff, not as bad as last Friday's ride. Steed shouldn't make a difference as both are set up identically. However, the saddles were swapped when I bought the Beemer, (Fizik off the Beemer and onto the Bianchi in exchange for the Selle Gel) and I don't know why Fizik are so popular, most uncomfortable saddle I've ever ridden one.

shoes: ASICS GT 2170

Short loop in Kings Park.

Orienteering race 55:24 [3] 4.1 km (13:31 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X Talon 212

GPS 4.84. Nearly 8 mins down on Thomas' Mum (just a former Czech international), 6 mins behind Noel. Seems like I lost 4-5 mins on 2 route choices, 3-4 and 9-10 where I went straight. Also took a couple of minutes to find 4 after missing it by 20m in low-vis stuff. Couldn't run much, except in the paddocks, and very slow and tentative in the stony, quarried areas, trying not to upset the neck and shoulders.

Road cycling 1:15:00 [3] 26.0 km (2:53 / km)
shoes: Bike: Beemer Auto

Tentative attempt to ride around the river with the girls, but shoulders were getting stiff so turned around at Canning Bridge. Just as well, the neck was quite stiff by the time I got home.

Orienteering race 53:47 [4] ***** 4.6 km (11:42 / km)
spiked:9/10c shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 280

Day 2 of Classic at Hill Park Dale. Good course, only problem was at 1, where I started to play safe by heading up to the paddocks with the aim of coming in from above, but changed my mind after doing half the climb to the top paddock, and decided to contour. Inevitably got caught in the rocks too soon, went up and down a couple of times before finally going a bit further to the correct gully. Probably 3-4 minutes lost. This was a good first leg with several route choices, and I suspect my original plan was the best for me.

Slow through the rocks to 2, 3 and up the hill to 4, where I probably lost maybe a minute going wide to the fence. Finally able to run from 4 to 5, a bit wide in the first part of the leg, but picked up the dams, then onto the nice track from where it was easy. Used the paddocks East of 6 and 7. Could see 10 would be tricky if approached from above, so went low below the huge boulder then across the rock surfaces.

3 minute win to consolidate the overall. GPS 5.77km.

Orienteering race 30:26 [4] **** 3.2 km (9:31 / km)
spiked:14/17c shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 2nd pair

Day 1 of Classic at Pre-Frazzled. Another mid-race disaster with fumbles at 3, 4 and 5, a minute at 3 & 5, and 2 mins at 4. Almost cost me the Day 1 lead in E3, but somehow managed to finish 5 seconds in front. GPS 3.68km.
