Running 34:32 [3] 6.15 km (5:37 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Hyde Park run - already 27C and humid before I started out at 6.45.

Note

Ran one of the Long course routes for Saturday's Metro Series event. I'll post the time and distance after the event (sorry!). The garmin measured the run almost exactly as calculated. One of the Island kangaroos was sitting right at one of my control points - it just ignored me as I ran through.

Saw a guy walking shirtless along the river foreshore, who had what must be described as a '7-pack'. He had a pretty impressive 6-pack, but sitting below it was a spare tyre. He either needs to make some adjustments to his abs routine, or give up beer.

Orienteering 46:20 [3] 8.3 km (5:35 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Burswood event course - 9,12,15,13,7,6,4,5,8,10,14,16,11,3,2,1 - missing out the 4 controls furthest West (17,18,19,20).

Running 43:36 [4] 7.9 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Another hot run in Kings Park - 35C, SE wind.

Road cycling 2:02:30 [3] 45.1 km (2:43 / km)
shoes: Bike: Bianchi Coast to Coast

Around the river ride, stiff SE breeze, but not hot thankfully. Punctured at Pt Walter.

Orienteering race 51:00 [4] * 8.65 km (5:54 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Metro Series at Leeming. Hot again, probably about 33C when we started. Had quite a good route, but stuffed it when I ran past a control in the middle of the course without punching, and had to do an extra 400m to pick up another control near the end.

Running 1:04:45 [3] 11.6 km (5:35 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Bridges & Heirisson Island, checking map along the way. Over 30C yet again!

Running 43:36 [3] 7.9 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Kings Park, another warm evening and didn't feel like making an effort. Fortunately noone else doing the full lap so wasn't pushed to do a faster time.

Getting heartily sick of this long succession of days when the temperature is still 30C+ until well after 6pm. Don't think the Freo Doctor has been sighted (felt, I guess) East of Rottnest since the City Beach event back at the beginning of January.

Running 33:57 [3] 6.15 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Hyde Park, usual 2+2 laps.

Saturday Feb 12, 2011 #

Orienteering race 46:18 [4] ** 8.4 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Metro Series at Stratton. Picked a reasonable route for a change, although I ran 200m extra on an unmapped track. Quite a lot of sand running - would have worn the X-Talons if I'd known about it.

Thursday Feb 10, 2011 #

Running 42:13 [3] 7.4 km (5:42 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Bridges run from Royal St. 34C with a strong SE headwind for the first half, although coming from my left, not the usual direction when the Freo Dr is in. Coming back with the wind I was sweating buckets. The driest part of my body was my mouth.

Tuesday Feb 8, 2011 #

Running 42:32 [3] 7.9 km (5:23 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Kings Park run. Hot. Sweaty.

Running 34:32 [3] 6.15 km (5:37 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Hyde Park.

Saturday Feb 5, 2011 #

Orienteering race 48:00 [4] 8.7 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150

Metro at Kingsley - not sure how the calf and achilles would go, but signed up for long anyway, thinking I could always pull out. Didn't feel anything, so the rest and ice of the last 4 days must have worked. Not good route choice though, following a crowd of losers to no.1. Should have gone to 4 first, but may have lost time doing that as the map was wrong, and turned out to be a good last control. At least I don't think I did 2km too much this week!

Running 43:01 [3] 7.9 km (5:27 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 2150 New

Kings Park run, purposely slower as wary of a calf tear - did tighten up conmsiderably in the last km. Might have to ease off for a few days.
