MDOC Whaley Bridge. 1st, 2010pts
Hilly area. It was mentioned, I might get them all, which I thought unlikley given the terrain, but certainly influenced my thinking to get them all in the top half of the map and see where we were at. This went well, except I don't think I got the route at the very top right, the path was too muddy to run fast, so should have stayed in the estate and took a slightly more convoluted route at a faster pace.
Did the out and back past the reservoir, and at this point had a route in my mind but thought I might get all the 60s but no chance of them all. Sensible decision to bin some 10s and 20s in the centre of the map and headed south which thankfully wasn't as uphill as I thought, but plenty of unlit off road stuff which slowed my somewhat.
Decided to go to the very south for the 60/50/10 combo, though I was convinced this would make me late, especially when it was a long slog uphill.
Then completly stacked it coming back down as van parked on pavement forced me onto grass verge at speed, gashed knee open and a couple of knuckles, but with time of the essence only began to notice the splotches of blood on my map!
Whisked round all the ones on the way is as thought would be a net gain, checked time after last one and realised might just make it back in time with a sprint...which I did. Glad I backed myself.
Harsher penalties for being late and I probably wouldn't have gone up the last hill, and still had an intact knee...
So in the end I got everything worth 30+, missed 6 10s+20s.
