8 AM

Running 17:00 [3] 2.5 mi (6:48 / mi) +30m 6:33 / mi

Plan A - Stewart parkrun, foiled by late train
Plan B - Gateshead parkrun, too risky arriving Newcastle at 0845
Plan C - Newcastle parkrun then

Stupidly took a left turn instead of right after the football ground, so entered Town Moor a good 800m from the start at bang on 9am...
9 AM

Running race 18:24 [5] 3.1 mi (5:56 / mi) +20m 5:49 / mi

Newcastle parkrun - 16th, 18.24/18.39

...legged it across the moor, thought I'd made it as they were busy moving the cows out of the way, but as I took my jacket to dump it at the side of the path, off they went, so I turned and set off, still in hat and trousers.
Instantly stopped by the masses going through a gate.
Gently worked my way through at tempo pace, would have liked top 10 but at least got past the front buggy and the front dog.

One on hand, a good one to miss the start of as wouldn't have won, and most weeks, wouldn't come first here, high standard.
On the other hand, was saving this one for when I was in good nick to give it a good crack.

Never mind.

Running 9:50 [3] 1.3 mi (7:34 / mi)

Back to station the way I should have gone
11 AM

Running 18:45 [3] 2.5 mi (7:30 / mi) +10m 7:25 / mi

Down the river to the uni via the Barracks

Urban Orienteering 17:30 [4] 2.0 mi (8:45 / mi)

York Uni Sprint (Superstars course) 2nd

Not really going flat out but just concentrating on navigating and having fun.
Slow and faffy 7-8-9 due to undergrowth, otherwise fine, and certainly good fun.
Great area.
12 PM

Urban Orienteering 15:25 [3] 2.0 mi (7:42 / mi)

York Uni (Stars Course) 1st

Got into this one a bit more pace wise as a bit more straightforward, except for #8 where map didn't seem right in relation to #2.
And got a bit ahead of myself to #12 and had to recalibrate.

Running 12:00 [4] 1.8 mi (6:40 / mi)

Legs well warmed up so was moving quite well back into York the shorter way
5 PM

Running 8:30 [3] 1.0 mi (8:30 / mi) +20m 8:00 / mi

Another warm up, followed by lots of hanging around
6 PM

Urban Orienteering race 39:10 [4] 4.7 mi (8:20 / mi) +50m 8:04 / mi

NE Night Champs, Durham, 2nd

Obv legs a little jaded, pushed hard in places but a lot of stopping and starting.
A few issues with the map, the many steps to #4 (I think) non-existant on map, and the white between #15 and #16 (?) was not passable in the two places I tried to do so.
Also some kind of indication of the grave stones would have been good.
Overshot #9 by a fair way, and a few others hits and misses but it was a good course overall and although more off road than expected and I would normally cope with, I felt the mix was right.
7 PM

Running warm up/down 5:00 [2] 0.6 mi (8:20 / mi)

Just the 21 miles today then!

Running 31:20 [3] 4.0 mi (7:50 / mi)

A run at the same effort as yesterday, only much slower
7 PM

Running 52:30 [3] 7.0 mi (7:30 / mi) +90m 7:13 / mi

Headtorcher through Highroyds and Tranmere Park, Old Hollins Hill, Sewage Works, Princess Pub, A65, Old Railway and Nunroyd Pk
Tired to begin with but did OK up the long drag to Rawdon.

12 PM

Running 30:30 [3] 4.1 mi (7:26 / mi) +30m 7:16 / mi

Out and back on Tadcaster road. Took it incredibly easy so was amazed at ave pace
7 PM

Urban Orienteering race 1:15:20 [4] 10.4 mi (7:15 / mi) +100m 7:02 / mi

SROC Ramsbottom Streets

Quite rusty to begin with, struggled with scale and not helped by running up massive hill.
Got going nicely after about 25 mins until about an hour, but getting back from Summerseat required going both uphill and off road and this slowed me significantly not helped by unmapped paths.
In hindsight would have been far better to cover the easy points north of the start at the start then attacked the hill.

3 PM

Running 50:00 [3] 6.2 mi (8:04 / mi) +20m 7:59 / mi

At a conference by Barbican which finished nice and early so treated myself to a lovely run down the New River through Clissold Park to Finsbury Park.
Nice and traffic free for the most part. Enjoyable.
With heavy bag

12 PM

Running 30:30 [3] 4.1 mi (7:26 / mi)

Fulford Ings loop
6 PM

Running 49:20 [3] 7.6 mi (6:29 / mi) +90m 6:16 / mi

Rothwell loop a/c

Let the others get on with their thing and ran controlled and sensibly at 6.30s which will do me nicely at this stage.

11 AM

Running long 1:49:26 [3] 12.75 mi (8:35 / mi) +600m 7:29 / mi

Long run with Matt, from Ilkley, western flank of moor towards Silsden, contouring round on bridleways towards Keighley, then back over moor.
First hour was fine, but we (or rather Matt chose to) encountered some rough stuff on the way back which was less pleasant. (for me)
