Running race 18:22 [5] 3.1 mi (5:55 / mi) +60m 5:35 / mi

Glossop parkrun - 1st, 18.22

Quicker than last week, and on a tougher course, so that's good.
Twisty, turny, multi terrain course, x3 laps, 3 hills, none major but short and sharp.
First k was slow, 4 mins, as despite doing usual course research paths were narrow and everywhere so didn't want to go wrong, also the guy who came 2nd blitzed up the first hill, so wanted to figure out if I was in a race.
1st by 17s in the end, pulled away, last lap was tricky as paths were narrow, but finished strongly.

Running warm up/down 12:00 [1] 1.3 mi (9:14 / mi)

Running warm up/down 8:45 [3] 1.0 mi (8:45 / mi)

Orienteering 20:20 [4] 2.5 mi (8:08 / mi) +20m 7:56 / mi

Eastham Woods Forest Sprint - 11th

Used to come here all the time as a youngster, but now suitably unfamiliar for orienteering.
Didn't go too bad for a forest event, three errors
#4 - Thought I'd come off path sufficently to find mound, found control but wasn't mine. Took time to realise mine was 30m to the north on parallel feature.
#6 - went into correct gap in undergrowth but when it appeared to not be a gap further on, backtracked and went south to realise I was correct first time
#14 - Lost rather too much time faffing and not understanding where I was, ended up back at 10, should have just used the double bear pit to locate but only saw one of the two which confused me.

A good fun event though. Still a bit lacking in pace, as would become apparent over the weekend...

Running warm up/down 21:52 [3] 2.4 mi (9:07 / mi) +20m 8:53 / mi

7 PM

Running warm up/down 8:17 [2] 1.0 mi (8:17 / mi)

Orienteering race 21:47 [4] 2.6 mi (8:23 / mi) +30m 8:05 / mi

Grosvenor Park Night Sprint - 6th

What brilliant madness this was!
55 controls - 3 maps, fast and furious
Legs understandably didn't quite get up to full speed, but ran fairly fast whilst trying to stay one control ahead, which I managed for the most part but it was certainly a test. Became a bit easier near the end once used to things/the same controls/ decided to hurt the legs
Really struggled at end of first map/ start of second map to transfer from one to the other - really had that lost feeling.

Running long 1:15:00 [3] 10.0 mi (7:30 / mi) +220m 7:01 / mi

Hungover, but forced myself out.
Guiseley to Yeadon on railway, lap of tarn, up to Carlton and back on bridleway.
Aimed for 10 miles and this proved a perfect loop.
Good conditions.
Legs felt good, head didn't.
