Running warm up/down 32:50 [3] 4.0 mi (8:13 / mi)

All my laps of the cricket pitch!

Urban Orienteering race 15:33 [5] 2.3 mi (6:46 / mi)

Hull Uni Sprint Prologue, 2nd

Solid run, though struggled to get legs into top gear

Had two issues with fences marked crossable that I would have struggled to cross, and went back through start 3-4 which probably wasn't ideal.

1 min down on Chris
12 PM

Urban Orienteering race 13:11 [5] 2.1 mi (6:17 / mi)

Hull Uni Sprint Chasing final, 2nd, 13.11

Good to see the chase start on time!
Felt like I was running better.
All OK, except messed up #6, went wrong side of building and so turning left took me further away rather than into control. This prob cost 25-30s. 50s down on Chris this time. Some good longer legs but possibly 3 or 4 more controls would have been nice.

Running race 16:08 [5] 3.1 mi (5:12 / mi) +40m 5:00 / mi

John Carr 5k - 9th, 16.08

Disappointing and encouraging at the same time.
Felt fine warming up so thought the lethargy of the last 2 days had gone.
But within the first 100m legs didn't feel fresh or fast and I knew it wasn't going to be a especially enjoyable experience. This even though I was about 20th after those 100m and basically flat out.
However downhill section got me going and felt OK though 1k and 1 mile (4:53) Even felt OK to the cone/turnaround, though suprised the guy behind me had enough breath to shout 'that's further than last week' (so clubmates suspicions it was short last week, were indded correct)
By this point had worked through 4th, just behind 2nd and 3rd but the elastic was going and felt like was really grinding to keep going.
Tried my best to attack the hill but this basically took everything I had left. Held on to 4th until 4k but even though the last k is downhill (making it a dodgy course IMO, even though apparently within legal limits) couldn't stay with the group who came through and finished ahead, though the guy in 3rd at 4k I basically finished alongside.
Really hurting home and couldn't pick up pace at all despite downhill.

Disappointing as clearly sub 16 was on the cards if feeling even reasonable, but if thats a bad run I'll wait for a good one with anticipation.

Will have a couple more easy days but if still feeling tired and heavy at weekend will have to have a rethink of race plan coming up.

Running 20:00 [3] 2.3 mi (8:42 / mi) +100m 7:40 / mi

Woodlesford canal/river

Felt terrible, very weak in the legs.

Luckily Simon, Susan and Lewis were also happy to plod along.

Running 34:10 [3] 4.0 mi (8:33 / mi) +60m 8:10 / mi

Extended warm up to get some miles in

Running 1:18:05 [3] 6.5 mi (12:01 / mi) +100m 11:28 / mi

British Middles - no idea, 1h18 and bits

A predictable comedic bad performance

Quite enjoyed it in a way, once I had dispelled any notion of even an average run

When I was in control and knew where I was, did relatively alright - 5-8, for instance.

When I didn't know where I was precisely, struggled massively, 9 and 10 for example. Have difficulty relocating and could not recognise vegetation in relation to map.

Got a tow through the road crossing and could have followed, but that would have looked ridiculous in the results and I'm not happy just following anyway.

All sorts of wrong to #24, came out of #23 wrong way, went down wrong path, was probably in the right place to begin with, but faffed around before finding control buried on its side in mud.

God loves a trier...
2 PM

Running 10:00 [3] 1.2 mi (8:20 / mi)
