8 AM

Running warm up/down 48:00 [2] 6.6 mi (7:16 / mi)

All todays various jogs and warm downs
9 AM

Running 17:57 [5] 3.1 mi (5:47 / mi)

Wetherby parkrun - 3rd, 17.57

Very flat, very dull course on playing fields next to river.
Strong headwind for half the course
Ran crap, was working hard but not getting anywhere
Backed off a little when realised wasn't going to get 2nd, but pushed a little to break 18
Meh.
11 AM

Urban Orienteering race 14:25 [5] 2.2 mi (6:33 / mi)

Yorkshire Sprint Champs Linton On Ouse RAF Base
Prolouge - 8th

Was all going well with a couple of minor errors, then went 14-19-18 and was heading towards 17 before realised error
Had convinced myself 14 to 19 was a short leg and ran from one to the other.
Lost about 90s I reckon.
2 PM

Urban Orienteering race 12:25 [5] 1.9 mi (6:32 / mi)

Yorkshire Sprint Champs, chasing start final - mp

Finished thinking I had ran well, coped with butterfly loops well, and reeled in Joe from 50s and had a good battle to the finish

But I had punched the wrong 2, lazily (?) thinking it was the same control as this morning, one building north of the one it was actually on.

Pretty consistent in throwing these big errors into sprint races now.

Running 43:20 [3] 5.8 mi (7:28 / mi) +110m 7:03 / mi

Nice run through the Gloaming out to Burley station through Scalebor and down to Ben Rhydding

Legs, however, felt horrendous

6 PM

Running 1:16:00 [3] 11.0 mi (6:55 / mi) +80m 6:45 / mi

Rare Thursday session

15 mins tempo, 5 mins jog to track, 10 x 200 on 100 off

Went very well. Felt comfortable at tempo pace. Encouraging.

Wednesday Mar 18, 2015 #

12 PM

Running 31:20 [3] 4.5 mi (6:58 / mi)

River north, again feeling decent
6 PM

Urban Orienteering 41:30 [4] 6.1 mi (6:48 / mi) +70m 6:34 / mi

Harrogate Street O - 1st, cleared map

Good planning with a high density close to the start section and others spread further out

Managed to get them all for the first time I think

Planned to run a bit further after but had bad chaffage!

Tuesday Mar 17, 2015 #

12 PM

Running 33:56 [3] 5.1 mi (6:39 / mi)

River south out and back, felt good again, pace naturally increased

Monday Mar 16, 2015 #

6 PM

Running 49:00 [4] 7.7 mi (6:22 / mi) +105m 6:06 / mi

Rothwell clockwise

For the final time until next winter, thank god.

Nice and steady, though somehow ended up alone for most of it

Felt good

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2] 1.1 mi (9:06 / mi) +60m 7:46 / mi

To start
12 PM

Running 35:00 [3] 2.6 mi (13:28 / mi) +115m 11:50 / mi

CSC Hamsterley Common - Rtd

Slow to #1 but got there without going off the line, just hesitant to not go to far with lots of other controls en route.

2-3-4-5 was good - using compass

Onto 6 and crossed stream on right line, looked for rocks ahead, headed for rocks.

Went past rocks, no pit.
Couldn't see any other rocks in sight
Looked at both contours on map and line of trees to south, so went west (control actually east), then south again.
No sign.
Back to rocks to relocate (which weren't on map), headed north east and thought I'd found right angle in stream (it wasn't, it was just marsh) which meant heading back to where I came from, to again find nothing.
By now cold and chessed off and didn't fancy hacking about through heather for another hour. Eventually dropped down a bit, which made no sense to me as seemed too far east and found control. But 17-18 mins for the leg meant I was probably going to be last, so sacked it off.

Running 1:00:10 [3] 7.2 mi (8:21 / mi) +110m 7:59 / mi

So went for a run, though the first mile and a half was just the same as the race as I headed for bridlepath in the SE corner of the map

The followed path NE and east to the finish, arrived same time as Richard, ran back to download with him, then 25 mins out and back in the forest which was the most pleasant part of the day.

Going to have to stop doing any events involving heather, not because it is unpleasant to run through (though that is reason enough really) but the running action required is making my IT flare up very noticably as my right leg swings out to gain enough clearance.
