8 AM

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2] 3.0 mi (8:20 / mi)

9 AM

Running race 17:52 [5] 3.1 mi (5:46 / mi) +20m 5:39 / mi

Coventry parkrun - 2nd, 17:52

Frost on the ground but no real ice as such
Usual idiots hared off, after 400m in about 10th. Moved up to 4th by 1k, two guys out front clearly starting to die, and the guy in front was reeling them in.
Front man dropped out after a mile, guy in 3rd overtook the new leader shortly after, as did I
So it was me and him then, and he slowly slowly edged away from me.
I felt as if I was running well, fast, and making a good effort, so just kept at it, didn't look at watch until end

Gutted with the time on what wasn't a difficult course really.
If that is really where I am at after 8-10 weeks solid training might as well pack it in.
I hope it isn't, I really don't

Running warm up/down 8:00 [3] 1.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

7 PM

Running 28:40 [3] 4.0 mi (7:10 / mi)

Out and back along Holyhead Rd in Coventry. Again, felt good.

Thursday Dec 4, 2014 #

12 PM

Running 34:00 [3] 4.5 mi (7:33 / mi) +20m 7:27 / mi

Long Hob Moor Loop
6 PM

Running 41:40 [3] 6.0 mi (6:57 / mi) +20m 6:52 / mi

Down to Shipley
Felt good, but felt faster than it was, maybe due to the cold

Running 30:00 [3] 4.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

7 PM

Urban Orienteering race 1:16:57 [4] 10.8 mi (7:07 / mi) +100m 6:56 / mi

SROC Standish Street O - 7th, 900pts

Bloody freezing, literally.
Was all going smoothly but my planned route, which although executed OK was nowhere near the best. Got sucked into going to the extreme east of the map as knew I could cover that distance, but it just wasn't worth it points wise, should have stayed central and finished round the north of the map.
Also on the far east section some chavs threw a 4 pint carton of milk at me which shook me up a bit, then the map was lacking severely east of the lake, there were many turns to the right before the mapped one, and the next control could not find the wall, no open space mapped, and the one after that control circle was in the wrong place.
So not a success. Began to realise this after this section and legged it to get the high value points west of the start, reality is with the penalties and my pace would have been worthwhile staying out there all night, but I had a bed to go to...

Running hills 1:07:15 [4] 9.0 mi (7:28 / mi) +300m 6:46 / mi

6 * (90s up, 120s down, 30s up, 60s down)

Good - really consistent and moving well except for ankle niggle before and after. Getting chilly.

Monday Dec 1, 2014 #

12 PM

Running 32:00 [3] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Clifton/River

Very slow as quads very sore from so much uphill running yesterday
6 PM

Running 51:30 [3] 7.6 mi (6:47 / mi) +40m 6:40 / mi

Rothwell anti-clockwise loop
Pleased with pace as really held back and about a month ago this would have felt a lot harder.

Sunday Nov 30, 2014 #

10 AM

Orienteering race 1:35:12 [3] 7.3 mi (13:02 / mi) +115m 12:26 / mi

Ilkley Moor orienteering, Black, 9th

Several small errors, no massive errors, but kept it slow and in contact with map
Thought processes still improving, enjoyable challenge
Still can't run across terrain very well (ankle) so was hindered when this was the option or by sticking to paths when that was the long way round.
12 PM

Running 47:50 [3] 6.1 mi (7:50 / mi) +210m 7:05 / mi

Over the 'Keighley Road' to Keighley. Managed to run all the way up the hill, rest was easy, although cramping up afterwards. Nice ride on a train as a reward
