Northern 6 stage - leg 4 (-1) 22.20

Found last years Strava entry which read something like 'solid run but perhaps something left in the tank' and the same could apply this year. Very windy so set off steady, and felt best in the last mile, pushed on and finished very strongly but probably should have gambled and worked a bit harder from halfway. Maybe 10-15s down from a good run, certainly not a disaster.

2sec slower than last year but worse conditions for sure this time round

Trying not to try, a very tactical victory, didn't take the lead until 800m to go. Hard not to push up the 'Cliffe' otherwise would have been walking pace on the steepest section.

Tough to get the speed right, had to work very hard, was crawling up the final hill in the park but was a good thing I didn't walk as only had an 8s margin in the end.
Would have been more comfortable but for a major wobble to #18, almost lost completely where I was but got back on track just in time, maybe 40-45s time loss. Otherwise solid, helped very much but the 2 min timed out crossing allowing forward planning.

More guest appearances from faster people I know (Salter) and set off conservatively, felt very slow and a struggle to go faster, mile 1, 6.22. Then 2 x 5.30s so a bit odd. Finished very strongly.

The guy who won, in 16.02, which was probably 15.59 based on the time being out for everyone thanks to a shotgun start, was 1 sec ahead of me at the end of April.
Hard work, first mile was a struggle, middle mile felt best, then the last k was horrible.
Time to hit the mileage from next week

Folkestone parkrun - 2nd, 17.50

Saw Neil Renault on the start line so knew was only going to come 2nd at best, even so was about 6th at the bottom of the hill, but 3rd by the top. Eased into 2nd by the end of the left, but was right on the limit, held it together to the finish, just. Breathing all over the place. Not the easiest course to be fair, and warm.
