Running 35:00 [3] 5.2 mi (6:44 / mi) +40m 6:34 / mi
Planned on doing the Otley/Burley triangle.
Heading down to Otley, approaching the tip, a van coming out of the yard let me past. Kept running as a motorbike pased the other way. All of a sudden there was a multiple screech and a thud. Turned round to see the motorcyclist on the deck, his bike having the van.
Shouted to a woman in the tip to phone an ambulance and ran up to the bloke. Swift worry crossed my mind of what I would find, but no blood, he was consicous and groaning. Kept him still and talking while the ambulance was summoned.
As a busy road, the traffic backed up, as more people came on the scene, eventually numbering a GP and two A&E nurses. The ambulance arrived after about 15 mins, and I gave the police my details and set off back home, to tell Charlotte I hadn't really finished my run. Then did an out and back down Bleach Mill.
Didn't notice the guy going too fast, but seems he lost control as the van was on the right side of the road when the impact happened. A man came up from Otley saying he had to pull out of the way when he saw the motorcyclist come into view in his rear view mirror. Despite the accident being visible from the Menston end, a few drivers still felt fit to beep or screech off in the opposite direction having turned around.
Makes you think.
