Monday Sep 28, 2015 #

6 PM

Running 43:20 [4] 6.6 mi (6:34 / mi) +60m 6:23 / mi

Back on the Woodlesford scene.
Ran harder than I would have liked, and was still well and truly dropped by Simon, Osama and Lisgo.
Still, wouldn't have been able to manage this 10 days ago.
Wonderful sunset over the water meadows.

Saturday Sep 26, 2015 #

3 PM

Running 41:55 [3] 6.0 mi (6:59 / mi) +80m 6:42 / mi

Final run out and back round the coast and resort.
Carried away on way back and pushed on to a 6.10 last mile.
Solid first proper weeks training for about 6 weeks and could feel progress.

Friday Sep 25, 2015 #

12 PM

Running 43:00 [4] 6.0 mi (7:10 / mi)

Had to pay to use indoor pool, sauna etc. so thought might as well knock run out on treadmill.
4 mins w/up at 12k/ph, then up 0.1 every min until hit 15.
At 0.5% gradient.
Last 10 minutes were tough, but coped.
6 PM

Running 29:06 [3] 4.0 mi (7:17 / mi) +40m 7:03 / mi

A run to the ATM and back.
Felt great on way out and then a bit light headed on the way back.

Thursday Sep 24, 2015 #

11 AM

Running 29:40 [3] 4.0 mi (7:25 / mi) +20m 7:18 / mi

Anti-clockwise resort loop.
Felt harder than last night.

Wednesday Sep 23, 2015 #

5 PM

Running 56:32 [3] 8.0 mi (7:04 / mi) +30m 6:59 / mi

Along the coast to the camping penisula and back.
Massive thunderstorm after 25 mins, went really dark, probably the wettest I've ever been on a run.
The good news was I was ticking along nicely with little effort.

Running 30:00 [3] 4.0 mi (7:30 / mi) +30m 7:20 / mi

3 PM

Running warm up/down 13:00 [2] 1.5 mi (8:40 / mi)

Running race 23:38 [5] 4.1 mi (5:46 / mi) +25m 5:39 / mi

Northern Road Relays - B team, leg 6, 23.38

Lack of fitness lead to a predicatably poor time, though I did beat my target of being within 2 mins of my good run from 2013 (21.45)

Felt fine first 10 mins, running and battling with guy from Salford B.

As he stretched out toward the lake, the wheels started to come off and it was a case of hanging on for dear life to the finish.

A few people caught me and I was caught a couple so it was all hard to judge, but by the way I felt I was convinced I was slowing, and badly at that.

But mile splits were 5.46, 6.04, 6.00, 6.01 so one of those strange races where you hold it together despite feeling a lot worse and worse, which shows to never give up.

Gave it my all so no disgrace, bit of a contrast to my last relay experience in Sefton Park...!

Friday Sep 18, 2015 #

5 PM

Running 28:58 [3] 4.0 mi (7:15 / mi) +50m 6:58 / mi

Menston trail run, tried to go a bit quicker in advance of relays tomorrow and was pleased to be able to do so

Thursday Sep 17, 2015 #

Running 32:16 [2] 4.0 mi (8:04 / mi) +20m 7:57 / mi

Another lap of Highroyds.
Bumped into Rachel halfway round so ran with her for 15 mins.
Improvement in breathing from yesterday.

Wednesday Sep 16, 2015 #

7 PM

Running 23:58 [2] 3.0 mi (7:59 / mi) +10m 7:54 / mi

Rusty, in fact very rusty, but think we are good to go again.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

For the first time, feel significantly improved today. Fingers crossed.

11 AM

Orienteering 36:58 [2] 2.4 mi (15:24 / mi) +115m 13:24 / mi

Hanging Moor (Green) 1st, 36:58

It was too nice a day to do nothing, so popped along to Hanging Moor.
Decided to do green and just take it easy.
What fun!
Found the navigation easy at lower speed, only one error to #6 when thought I had gone too far and I hadn't, otherwise spot on.
Ran anything flat or downhill, walked the uphills.
I think I said this last time I dropped down a course, but I should listen to myself this time and do it more often, much more enjoyable.

Saturday Sep 12, 2015 #

9 AM

Running race 19:42 [5] 3.1 mi (6:21 / mi) +60m 6:00 / mi

Witton Park parkrun - 3rd, 19.42

Nope, still not recovered.
Ran as hard as I could with being out of breath within 5 seconds., frustratingly this was within sight of the front 2 but couldn't get closer or think I would have put myself in trouble.

Nice course, 1 and 2/3rds laps.

Sunday Sep 6, 2015 #

11 AM

Urban Orienteering race 52:59 [4] 7.2 mi (7:22 / mi) +60m 7:10 / mi

Loughborough (North) Urban - 6th

Shouldn't have done this either, but again told myself to run within myself, which pace wise, I certainly did, but it didn't feel great, considered stopping a couple of times. Warm conditions didn't help. Strangely felt great within about 5 minutes of finishing.
Course wise, got to #15 of 30 outside 30 mins and thought I might struggle to break the hour but the sprinty section in the school ensure I did. Good to have a longer course, and nav was fine except for silly 100sec error to #11, hit open space and veered right instead left, then convinced myself the map was wrong and I was right which was quite stupid, had to back track into the field.
Some of the later splits seem strangely long even given the pace I was running at, but hey ho.
Would have be interesting for the win had I been able to go full pelt.

Another day off tomorrow it is then. Grrrrrr.

Saturday Sep 5, 2015 #

8 AM

Running warm up/down 8:00 [2] 0.9 mi (8:53 / mi)

Chest improving, so thought I'd still give the parkrun a go
9 AM

Running race 19:23 [4] 3.1 mi (6:15 / mi)

Peterborough parkrun - 9th, 19.23

Told myself to take it easy, and set off in about 20th. Didn't feel too bad after a couple of minutes, and moved through deciding I didn't want to be girled. Got as far up as 8th after 2k before things started to go wrong. Breathing all over the place, though not coughing, just wheezy and feeling unfit. Lost a place by 3k but then it was a solo grind to the end. Didn't push the pace, just tried not to slow down. Not in a good way at the end.
Nice course, was won in 16.37 which normally I would like to think would have been a good race for me.

Running warm up/down 8:30 [3] 1.0 mi (8:30 / mi)

Shuffled back to bus stop
