orienteering 36:51 [3] 4.5 km (8:11 / km) +150m 7:01 / km

there's just something about middles that i love. this one wasn't the best i've ever done but it definitely was much better than the wcoc's one. nailed all of the controls with really good flow with only 2.5 bobbles. from 6 to 7 i ran around the green but once i got out into the clearing i couldn't figure out which green was which. i ended up in the wrong set of depressions just short of the control and i spend enough time there for sarah and meghan to catch back up with me and lead me into the control. looking at it now it still doesn't really make sense where i was though i should've been able to use the distinct trees and such to figure the area out. the second mistake would be 10 to 11 where i left the control at a funky angle. i recovered from that alright but then i decided to go left around the huge green depression and because of the big re-entrant i was pushed wayyy far left and lost too much running around on the ridge. then there's just 12 and 13 where i was hesistant coming into control although i was super tired by then and i didn't lose too much time. i really liked this terrain and i found it super dee duper easy to get right into the map.

ermm yeah i don't really want to talk about this one... screwed up 2 sooo bad... bad enough to lose a good 1.5min. then the rest was just slow and then i stopped for a peebreak on the way to 9 which seems quite silly on a sprint but i mean when you gotta go you gotta go. and anyways i only lost 16sec to carol on that leg. i finished it off fine but still it just felt like a bit of a disaster.

first leg of the relay for ottawa awesome 2!!!! yeah yeah!! ffffi could've done control 1 much better but i was pulled off by the crowd and i wasn't confident enough yet to go off farther to the left which was a much better route. ran the rest of the course without a hitch apart from just having noooo spring in my step. i could see carol up ahead but i just could not make my legs go any faster to catch her.

too bloody hot to do the prairie goat. we were allowed to skip 2 controls on a 9.2km course. i skipped control 10 which was a very good idea since people said that the map was funky there. and i also ended up skipping 16 simply because i could not find it anywhere!! i really had no motivation to run this course fat all and so most of it was me just blundering along in the direction of the control, missing it, pam catching me, finding the control, blundering past pam, etc. fun times. :P

orienteering 20:00 [3]

sass peepre relay!!!! it was me and aralee on a team and we sure kicked some bum!!! i did the long running legs which she did the closer ones. i can't remember where i finished but we definitely had fun!! :)

45min on the model map before lunch just crusing around being shadowed by jon torrance. he takes big steps.
the afternoon was practicing long legs which was super dee duper helpful. we worked on choosing routes through the yellow since running through the green and white was sucky. we were shadowed by magnus and patrick which made me nervous but i didn't screw it up!! yay!

orienteering 1:20:00 [3]

sooo i'm being real hoboish and sitting outside the library of the bustling town of carberry... at the training camp now and we did some stuff on some map where the vegetation was sooo sketchy. my relocation skills kinda sucked but the relays we did were fun.

not sure what to think of this race. overall it felt horrible cause i made some dumb mistakes and spent a lot of time wandering around. but then agian all the other controls went super dee duper well and i felt pretty strong out there in all that heat and sand.
