orienteering 3:40:22 [3]

wow... definitely the most amazing raid the hammer ever!!! much harder than last year, but i was racing so well and i felt fabulous the whole time! the beginning was super duper fast and the jetsons ended up right with the lead pack which was just a tad speedy. the first map was a lot of fun, quite intense, and the tunnel added an interesting touch. at first, i only saw this pipe coming out of the ground and i thought that we had to squeeze through that. ah! a big sigh of relief when i saw the big tunnel that we had to go through instead. phew! next map was just a pure road run where my favourite part was running down the ramp cause you could have such big strides and go sooo fast!! :P then it was onto the big map which was just fabulous. lots and lots of climb, but the orienteering was really great and there was quite a bit of route choice. and what made it even better was the we chose the right control at the Running Free Vertigo! yay!! funny story with that though. Robbie and I were going to go with the middle control, but then my dad came up and said that he thought that it should be the farthest one to the right. and what do you know!! he was right!! but... afterwards he told us that he had actually been looking at the wrong control circle (CP 12) which is a bit funky, but he saved us from running the penalty loop, even if it was by mistake!! :P Line-o was brutal since we went up the wrong re-entrant to 15... we climbed allll the way up a gagillion contours, and then looked over into the next one and wayyyyy down in the bottom was the control. Gosh darnit!!! hehe pretty pumped for the last loop though. This was definitely my favourite part out of the whole entire course. orienteered everything just perfectly and spiked every single control. seeing as how exhausted we were, and how dead our brains were, i was pretty happy!! :) i was feeling absolutely splendid that last part; legs felt like they were fresh just like before a race, the only part of me that actually hurt was my back where my backpack had bruised it. :S finished just ahead of Eric's team (Salomon Suunto) by about 3 minutes, so if we had made just a little mistake, we would've ended up with a sprint fnish which would not have been so pretty. :P
so we finished off the orienteering season with another spectacular race!!!! i'm just sad that it had to end. :(

running 4:15:00 [2]

oh my goodness gracious. such an epic run!!!! had a half day today, so i made very good use of that and our glorious weather. took 55min to run from my house to P3, and then about an hour and 25min to get from P3 to Mackenzie King. Just fabulous out on the trails all by myself. a couple times i just stopped to listen, and there was absolutely nothing... just silence... :) knees were wobbling a little bit out at the far end, so i took a seat on a nice soft rock and pondered the meaning of life because turning back. Felt much better and was able to pick it up some to get back to P3 in about an hour and 15min. by then i had kind of run out of water, so i booked it out to the subway on the main road and called my mom cause it was getting dark and i didn't want her to worry about me. now that i wasn't dehydated anymore, i picked up the pace to a zone 3, got some mat kearney playing real loud, and just ran. all the way down the river, across the bridge, right up the big hill on churchill. then the last few blocks, i was totally on a runner's high and nothing hurt anymore so i just sprinted and life was just wonderful! unfortunatelu, running highs don't last much longer after you stop running... so now my feet hurt and my shoulders are sore, but i'm still smiling!!!

Note

21.3km just on roads (to and from the asticou trail and parkway intersection)
and then approximately another 22 all on trails in the gats.

holy macaroni...
