Trail Run 52:38 [1] 4.8 mi (10:58 / mi) +184m 9:48 / mi
Headed home from NYC, only somewhat hungover. Hot, humid day, so I wanted to find some forest to run in Connecticut. I've heard of the Nipmuck Trail, so try that! No good maps so I had to try a couple of roads, the first one being what my dad would call a dumb road, before I found a little parking area on a dirt road.
Lovely trail, although I was not feeling great, sweating a lot! I was glad I had bought two bottles of Gatorade at the gas station. (I got overcharged: they advertised 2/$3 but charged me $3.25. Claimed it was tax. But not only are groceries untaxed in Connecticut, but if they were, this would be the wrong tax anyway! Then they said it was a combination of tax and deposit. But non-carbonated beverages do not have deposit in Connecticut. I got home and filed a complaint with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection.)
Anyway, ran up some hills, down some hills, nice trail. But got super sweaty and the FDFs were out, so I was swatting them which was less fun. A couple landed on my back (I think I was so sweaty they could only get purchase on my shirt) and attempted to bite through the shirt. Luckily because the anesthetic doesn't work on shirts, I felt it before the fly bit, or something. Got to a road and ran to the car, where I wrung a lot of sweat out of my shirt.
Garmin borked the run pretty well. Really not impressed with this new watch.
