Orienteering race 2:07:19 [4] *** 4.4 km (28:56 / km) +140m 24:58 / km

Sunday in Georgia at Don Carter State Park. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Good that I didn't run out of breath on the many and steep hills. Also, when I made mistakes, I could read the map and correct. Control 3 was ugly--I was close to going off the map, too far NW and had to figure out where I was and come back which took quite a while. My mistake here was not planning on a long leg. I need to make a plan on these long legs and execute, instead of just taking off.

The other bad leg was also long, 7 to 8. This time I knew pretty much where I was all the time. I had trouble getting across the stream, and this through me off.

I couldn't find my candy bar, which I planned on eating while waiting to start. This would have been helpful.

Anyway, the weather was good and I felt good. The course was fun, and I even was first in my class, although I know I didn't really deserve it because of mistakes both days.

About halfway through my right knee started feeling unstable and painful. This continued through the next several days, while giving it a good rest. After getting home and checking my Fitbit, I found that I had won the Ferris wheel badge Sunday for climbing the equivalent of a Ferris Wheel, or 75 stories. Pretty funny.

Day 1 of the Georgia Navigator. I had a very difficult time sleeping last night--anxiety about the race? I feel a lot better now. I messed up on 5--counted reentrants incorrectly and didn't go far enough. Once I had figured out that problem, II found the control easily. The worst mistake was on 6. When I got to the stream, I went left and should have gone right. I spent a lot of time walking upstream, before turning back. Took a little too long going to 7, but that was just because of the vegetation. Tomorrow is a little longer, but less climb.

9Round 32:00 [4]

Two of the rounds included plank-ups--not a favorite of mine. I substituted plank spidermans for the plank jacks, and that worked out well.

Workout 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Skechers GoFit

Workout with Jared. He was tough tonight, trying to get me ready for the Navigator Cup. I got to do a bunch of walks up and down the ramp carrying 40 lbs of weights, also lots of balance stuff, and heavy on the ropes. And I also pushed the sled.

9Round 32:00 [4]
ahr:114 max:134 shoes: Skechers GoFit

Tough workout today. My legs got sore on the last round, which is unusual--usually it's my arms, shoulders, and back that get sore. I was really glad to stop doing scissor kicks and v-ups and get in plank position for the last 30 seconds.

9Round 32:00 [4]

Really pretty hard today, with plank stuff and Russian twists, and V-ups. Lots of core work while holding medicine balls or weights.

Dog Walking 28:40 [3] 2.1 km (13:39 / km)
shoes: INOV8 TrailRoc 235

Stopped at Watkins Mill after going to the bank. It was cold and very windy, so we went counter-clockwise. Elray was not on her best behavior. Besides gaggles of geese, we saw about a dozen swans on the other side of the lake.

Yoga 1:21:00 [0]

Restorative.
