Cabin Fever Rogaine, woo!
A great group of us traversed to Chillicothe, OH for the 2014 Cabin Fever. SO much fun. Felt really good about my first Rogaine.
I decided to go counter clockwise based on my attack plans. I got all the 16, but bobbled on a couple at the beginning getting used to the scale of the map (1:24,000 and 20' contours). Made some technical errors...some not huge, but a dilly of a one off of 74. Lessons learned...eat a bit more, address the "foggy thinking" and look for more ways to attack so I can make better choices.
Went with a small pack to 34, then up and over first hill to 64, bobbled a bit, got it and slid down the reentrant and dumped to the foot of the 57 hill. Then up to 32, and should have taken the ridge. Bugger. Up the trail to dog leg 81 off the road, then back down to 44 and the road to the ridge to 62. Planned to drop south, but realized that the up downs would take me longer than running the road. Then to 42, then trail to 74...then pulled too far off the trail. I got in to the big reentrant heading south, which was fine, got me to the base of the 83 hill. I was planning to skip this (it was the highest point value control because of the hill) but I knew I would regret not doing it. Trudge. Then off 83 to 64, 54. In my notes I had "make a decision" after 54, and realized I probably couldn't get south enough and back in time for the cutoff, so did 31, 58, 35 and bobbled 40--wrong reentrant argh.
Saw Dr. Klein in Ann Arbor. Former runner, now an avid backpacker. I gave him information on SMOC and adventure racing.
I have a neuroma. Trying this little pad thing to cause my 3rd and 4th toe to separate and ease the pain. May just go away. Can get on a treadmill tomorrow and take it easy until Saturday. Hope it works! He thinks i used too many pairs of socks on my shoes when running. :)
