Mountain Bike (Sandy two track) 2:20:00 [3] 40.0 km (3:30 / km)

Rode from CP3 to CP2 to set up. Had about a 20lb pack with chair and provisions for the 7 hour vigil. Still can't believe this 30 hour race had 8 CPs!!!

Mountain Bike 30:00 [3]

Near our CP was a little two track that I rode down to the river and back. Beautiful shield rock, pine forest floor (even sounded hollow) and rock gardens. Had the biggest smile after that!

What Jens said. :)

Great trek around Highland checking out potential control sites. Jens did the orienteering, I just tagged along. He may not print me a map next time. I am definitely a back seat orienteer in that situation! What about this? What was that? What about over here? There? Then he let me be the AD of the meet and I shut up. :)

Very cool process. Kind of wondered how an area got vetted, and I can see why purple penning without some degree of vetting could be a disaster! Feeling more confident with my recognition of land features and expect over the winter that will enhance, at least I hope so.

ahr:140 max:160 shoes: Vibram Five Finger Bikala

Ran around Maybury getting tracks for the O-map being developed. Crazy ton of trails. Lots of fun locating, re-locating, making notes. For me, very exciting and lots of fun. Glad I wore the Bikalas...after being on some horse trails was happy to toss them into the washer.
