Garmin died, stealing Mr. W's deets. This was a good session for me. I have had such trouble with contour catastrophes and learned 1) a way around and 2) how to get through them. Now I am looking forward to them I think???
Also with Cataldo and Michelle Green. We talked about canning alot. Because I am canning a lot! Swedish salad, two kinds of salsa, pasta sauce, tomato juice, raspberry jam, blueberry jam, peach jam, and drying all the fruit I can get my hands on.

Headed for a run and my 13 y/o wanted to come with his bike, woo! He insisted on doing a hike a bike up my fave hill, love that kid! Had to wait every now and again, but it was FUN. Work call cut it short.
Had a great evening with Shrek Feet and Michelle Green. Michelle nudged me to sign up for the Trans Rockies Race next August and I'm doing it! SF provided some great, great advice from training plan to nutrition to sanity. Planning to use Rogaines over the winter for short term training goals and looking for training races through the spring. Any advice is welcome, I have just one year! So glad Mr. Wonderful is joining me on food logging! ;)
Fall raspberries, blueberries, peaches and tomatoes are in, boogied to the grocery store to fill my pack with pectin (low sugar of course!), canning salt, vinegar and spices for a big picking canning day tomorrow.
See Mr. Wonderful's log yesterday. Lots of fun, and so excited for my progress in O. To think, I was totally lost 18 months ago...big shout out to my coach Mr. Dubs for teaching, and encouraging me to keep going. :) Lovely human being that Mr. Dubs.
Huron river put in at Gallup and out to fuller back to Dixboro. With the owner/manager of the Zingerman's deli. Always trying to get in good.
Running1:00:00 [3]
A mess of Barton, trail east of dam, more Barton, Kuebler Langford, Bird Hills (loopy loops!) an then Kuebler. Hardest effort since starting PT and felt great! Honestly, I was worried.
Had an hour lesson then climbed for a while. Hands hurt before anything else. First time.
Trekking1:30:00 [3]
Pulled out the Island lake map and ran around with Cataldo. Showed her some of my favorite places. A snickers bar for anyone who can name one if the top three. Hint, we were in the Badlands.
Travelled home from Ludington--been camping there since Friday. Can't wait to go back. Got the chance to charge and pull data from the Garmin, and was surprised by the total climb for the Saturday ride. I do think that adjusting my seat forward an inch has given me a touch more power. That's nice.

Bumped around Ludington State Park (whoa sand!) then gravelled north to Manistee area. I over rode my nutrition...but ok. Lotsa hills. Garmin died on quarterline, used strava to finish.

Getting a little better. About halfway in had a little ache lower back right side. Pressed into it, walked a couple minutes, then on my way until the sheets of rain! Worst rain I have been in EVER. The radar and accuweather minute cast LIED to me. Retreat! Retreat! Not sure if the dog will ever run with me again! Just got pelted in the last half. WOW!
Need to get my HR strap back from KC, left it in her car.

Michigan Adventure Race Epic 8 hour:
Woo! What a fun race! Got through about 75% of the CPs. And, rolled with Kristel Coronado. Biggest highlight of the race was the beauty of the course, seemed to have great nutrition management, and that I felt physically great and always wanted to go faster! Poor KC! Take aways were I need more time on harder single track and bike hills, and less time transitioning. This was mos def a Mark VanT race, lots of biking!
This was my first time in this part of Michigan, and what a treat! We got there super early for the bike staging and to drop paddles and such. We got maps about an hour out, whoa! Lots of planning and contact paper to be done! We tried to the best we could and later heard some people got a late start because of that. As we were planning maps, KC had a back spasm, I started throwing Ibuprofen at her and confirmed she was OK to start!
Ran to the canoe put in and paddled out onto the Thornapple and Grand River. Got hung up on some rocks...grrr. But we got out of there and paddled to the bike. The rest of the race was interesting in that it was bike, then stop for O, bike, then O, and so on. Biked out to Cannonsburg. At one point, we skipped the 2mi single track and took 3mi on roads and came in to the CP feeling a little refreshed and ahead of a couple of other teams. The Cannonsburg ski area was hard. Lots of sand and lots of bikes! I wish I hadn't been so reluctant to pass folks...I would try to politely ask, maybe they didn't hear me? Or didn't care? Need some advice on this etiquette. I always in the past have always let people pass--want them to have a great race, right? At the end I had a good little wipe out. Why do I always hammer on my left knee?
Nailed the first O section even without running. Criss crossed some other teams. KC was awesome with the trail reading...I am so tied to terrain that trails get me. Had some good swamp stompin too. Lost some time on my bike board not staying secure after the crash. I think I need to get some non taper bike bars. Bummer.
Then on the bike again and lots of ups and downs on sandy gravel roads. Very pretty! Then on to the next O, and knew we needed to be mindful of time. So, we just went in for a couple of the points, and headed out and I realized we missed a bike point that we should have gotten. Went to get it, but went slower than anticipated and had to bail on another. Dropped the hammer to get back with a few minutes to spare.
Fun stuff! Can't wait for last weeks of training to prep for thunder rolls. Goals: 1. Several O sessions. 2. Big bikes. 3. A few long runs.
