First race with Battley Harley-Davidson/Founding Farmers. Honestly, I was just messing with the field at times because no one wants to do any work in the 4/5s. It immediately became apparent there would be almost no sitting in. I cruised to the front with my 2 teammates on my wheel. Pace 19-21mph vs 15-16 when others (mainly a large ProFC team) were on the front. I did way more work than I needed to, but it was a lot more fun, and I at least got a workout out of the race. A few small breaks to hurt ppl, with a bigger feeler on the Trump hill on lap2 to see how ppl were climbing. Actually getting to work with my teammates, which made it more interesting. Lap3 I waited through the rollers, took a short punch at the bottom of the hill, then dropped it and went full out up, over, through the long winding downhill. 4 came with me, including my teammie Laura. I didn’t think I was going to get away solo, knowing that there were quite a few sitting quietly in up to that point. So 7-8mi from the finish, came within 25sec of the 1/2/3 chase pack (3min deficit off the start). Laura gave me a few timely short recoveries. One of the other gals led maybe 90sec. Otherwise, it was just me. Slow build under 1K to go, punched it at 250ish. I knew Syd would be there, and she pulled even with me. There was about a second of doubt, and then I said no way I’m giving this away and found one more gear. Sitting at 16 of 20 upgrade points.
