Note
(rest day)

No O today: domestic day to try to get on top of various things. No training, but quite tiring!

Orienteering 41:35 [3] *** 5.5 km (7:34 / km)
spiked:12/16c shoes: VJ Falcon

Hargate Forest (Kent Orienteering League) Course A.
New area for me. Small area, but plenty of variety and interest (helped by well thought out planning to encourage route choice, including a terrain option, on most legs). Physical with the amount of mud and general up and down. Cold and wet under foot, but enjoyed the area and course. Tricky for rest of family with the pushchair. B walked really well round the whole of the 1.8km D course, but E got very miserable with the cold and there were logistical difficulties with the pushchair (main problem narrow gates, but also lots of mud). Surprised to have come second on results list - I guess that the others found the area physical and technically trick in places too.

Cycling 7:00 [3] 1.6 mi (4:22 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Home -> Work
Via HS level crossing, then left past Asda and onto the normal route past multi storey CP - Better route than yesterday morning.
A brisk sprint on a chilly (+2C) morning. Weathermen promising wintery conditions by end of w/e. Time to transfer from shorts to longs?
1 PM

Cycling 10:00 [3] 1.6 mi (6:15 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Work -> Home
Quick dash to get home in time to go straight out viewing a school for Ben - just about made it!

8 AM

Cycling 10:00 [3] 1.8 mi (5:33 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Home->Work
HR crossing still shut.

Took a different route, but turned out to be non-optimal (extra 300m?)
12 PM

Running (Thursday Run) 31:19 [3] 6.6 km (4:45 / km)
shoes: Saucony Trigon 5

First run like this since before Christmas.
Didn't feel too bad - much more energy than of late now that cold has pretty much gone. Distance from GPS track. Wasn't pushing too hard: main objective was to remind myself of the rythym of such a run.
NB Slightly earlier than usual due to a 1pm meeting.
6 PM

Cycling 10:00 [3] 1.6 mi (6:15 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Work -> Home
Via asda (8 pints milk (4.5kg), two bags flour (3kg), carrots (1.25kg), plus misc (1.5kg) - not surprised bike felt heavy!

HR crossing ok from this direction and at this time of evening.

shoes: Diadora

Home -> Pool

Swimming 41:00 [4] 2.0 km (20:30 / km)

Very busy in pool. Congestion in lane meant lots of unintended slowing up.
Finally got a free lane about half way through the session.
8 AM

Cycling 12:30 [3] 3.0 mi (4:10 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Pool -> Work
Tried to make a conscious effort to measure time (approximately).

shoes: Diadora

Home -> Work
Road closed just N of HR level crossing.
Could be like this for a month (until 9 Feb).
No problem getting through this morning, but not going at any pace and work not really under way yet. Probably need to consider using the BR crossing instead for the next month.
5 PM

shoes: Diadora

Work->Badminton
6 PM

A few good strenuous games.

7 AM

Cycling 8:00 [3] 1.4 mi (5:43 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Home -> Pool.
Start of a (hopefully) normal training week.
Felt quite good this morning after a relatively undisturbed night (no nocturnal coughing fits).

Swimming 41:00 [3] 2.0 km (20:30 / km)

A reasonable swim. Quite busy in the pool.
Just within 20min for first half of session. Felt slower for latter part, but didn't feel like wanting to stop early.
8 AM

Cycling 15:00 [3] 3.0 mi (5:00 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Pool -> Work.
Definitely feel that I have more energy today (cold must be just about gone).
Put on a reasonable pace to get to work.
