7 AM

Orienteering 35:00 [2] 1.4 mi (25:00 / mi) +110m 20:06 / mi
shoes: Topo MT3

"Waking up" controls around the ski slopes. Easy outing. Stopped and took several pictures. Epic "fire in the sky" colors as I started, then later picturesque lifting of fog over Winnepisauke.
11 AM

Orienteering 34:00 [2] 1.69 mi (20:07 / mi) +60m 18:07 / mi
shoes: New Balance MT 910 sz 9

Picking up stands and bags of the model event at Weeks Woods. Ahh this is so runnable!
2 PM

Orienteering 1:16 [3] 3.5 mi (22 / mi) +60m 21 / mi
shoes: New Balance MT 910 sz 9

Then another ride up the mountain and collecting 9 of Sunday's controls on the way down. 4 were new to me, and routes were all new. By now I am so familiar with the area, that navigation has become easy. Of course, slow moving while carrying the stuff.

Cycling - Bianci Mt Bike 15:00 [2] 1.75 mi (8:34 / mi) +100m 7:17 / mi

Bike to the junction of Oak and Moose (nordic trails),from where I started my next ascent of Gunstock. J.J.'s bike was nice. Had to be careful with them disk brakes, not spin or topple over. Only used the rear one.
8 AM

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3] 4.38 mi (13:42 / mi) +420m 10:33 / mi
shoes: Topo MT3

Another "run" up the Mt. This time to wake up epunches / and to ascertain that all controls were still there. All was fine, but it took me plenty of time. Arrived at the top just as the start crew showed up. I spent over an hour, helping out, taking pictures of the gorgeous panorama view, and greeting the runners arriving via chairlift, most were dressed winterly. Then taking some more pictures and then jogging back to the bike. Weather and foliage are legendary!
11 AM

Cycling - Bianci Mt Bike 12:00 [1] 1.75 mi (6:51 / mi) +5m 6:48 / mi

Biking back to race center.
3 PM

Orienteering 1:45:00 [2] 4.0 mi (26:15 / mi) +130m 23:51 / mi
shoes: Topo MT3

Collecting controls, from the top of the Mt. - had taken the chairlift up. With the Olafsens. Relaxing interlude before dipping back down into the rugged slopes of Mr Gunstock. Since one runner was still out on Green, I had to take a slight detour with extra climb. The third time I am doing this section of the courses, but changing the routes from before makes it interesting each time. By the time I made it back to headquarters, all but Jim had left.

Orienteering 2:30:00 [2] 5.5 mi (27:16 / mi) +530m 20:59 / mi
shoes: Topo MT3

Up and down Gunstock Mt. to put the epunch units out. Luckily Jim and J.J. have already placed the stakes and the bags out. Met a couple of sportsy ladies on the mt-top terrace, one of whom had connections to UNH, Tony Fed. etc. Lots to chat about and it earned me a bit of chocolate. Windy and chilly. On the way down I encountered two broken control stands, and controls half buried under leaves, both at edge or marshes. Of course I had troubles finding them - grr. What the heck? Bear, moose or.....

Cycling - Bianci Mt Bike 27:00 [2] 5.5 mi (4:55 / mi) +25m 4:50 / mi

Bike to work. Then home at 5 pm.
6 PM

Trail running 39:47 [3] 4.5 mi (8:50 / mi) +90m 8:19 / mi
shoes: Topo (black)

After a nice day mostly spent in my office plus 5 hours in front of classes, I had to go out to enjoy. But it was already dusky, so my mammoth headlamp was in order. Around Spruce Hole, mostly on the smoother dirt roads - a couple loops with moderate hill sprinting as much as the footing in the dim light would allow me. The dark season is upon us! This was a reasonably good effort.

Cycling - Bianci Mt Bike 28:00 [2] 5.5 mi (5:05 / mi) +30m 5:00 / mi

Bike to work, then back at 5 pm. Busy work day.
6 PM

Road Running 39:38 [3] 5.2 mi (7:37 / mi) +75m 7:18 / mi
shoes: Altra, Escalante

Dover Pub Run. Not particularly aggressive today. Caught up with Dan and Chris, and then Chris and I continued at comfortable pace, chatting on and off. And the usual tacos and beer afterwards. Had a nice (sweet) Stout by Mast Landing Brewery in Westbrook, ME, which was perfect for a chilly evening.
