Light tailwind. Carried wallet, shoes, clothes to change into, and a bottle of coffee in my pack. Not sure if it was the pack (no water, so def lighter than an AR pack for sure) or what, but my left hand got pretty numb and my left leg was just uncomfortable. Not a typical experience on this bike, but it definitely makes me want to work out my ARHC packing so everything is on the bike and none is on me.

Biking (Commute home ) 1:39:10 [3] 22.6 mi (13.7 mph) +669ft

Headwind on the way back.

Both directions felt harder than a relatively short and flat, paved, unloaded ride should. It must be a rule that every pre-ARHC ride include thoughts of “how am I going to be able to do that??”

Solo nighttime walk just a few nights after a double murder down the street from my mom’s had me a little more uncomfortable than normal. Sad reminder that terrible things can happen anywhere.

Biking (Death by Gravel) 8:29:15 [4] 102.5 mi (12.1 mph) +8520ft
ahr:133 max:166 rhr:49 slept:4.75 shoes: 2019 Salsa Fargo

Rode with Mickey, Larry, and Jay. Some with Scott and Robert as well. Like usual I was usually at the back of the group, but it was closer than in the past and overall I felt really good for most of the ride. Through mile 50ish I felt strong. The next 25 miles or so were tough with a lot of climbing on Floyd Tower Rd, but I managed the whole day without walking my bike, Still felt good enough at the end that when the question of cutting off a few miles came up (after Scott's rear derailleur exploded and chain broke and all he could do was soft pedal as Mickey towed him) I didn't want to go back without 100.

Overall, it was a good day. Beautiful route, great weather (which is a good thing since I gave away my base layer and jacket to Jay after he took an unplanned bath on a slippery low water bridge). I'd have like to be faster, but I was at least faster than I've been in the past.
