Note

The Fig

Running race (Prologue) 15:19 [4] 1.4 mi (10:56 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia blue/mint

Run from the start to the canoe put-in.

Paddling race ("Token paddle") 45:56 [4] 2.9 mi (15:50 / mi)

Paddle was on Mill Creek Lake, which is pretty small (and very pretty). To add some distance, after punching each CP we then had to paddle to the roving "flagship" and ring its bell. It was a little chaotic and actually pretty fun.

We were using Chuck's homemade cedar strip canoe, which attracted attention everywhere it went.
8 AM

Trekking race (Trek 1) 2:19:09 [4] 6.5 mi (21:24 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia blue/mint

Ran from canoe take-out down road and hiked Sheltowee Trace trail (I think). 2 CP along the way. No problems, pretty straightforward. Lots of mud and slick wet trail.
10 AM

Biking race (Bike 1) 5:57:17 [4] 34.5 mi (5.8 mph)
shoes: 2019 Salsa Fargo

6 CP total on this leg, 2 of which were directly on the way to the next TA and 4 on a big loop. We opted for the loop, a mix of pavement, gravel, super muddy jeep roads, and singletrack. All of the above was actually pretty fun except the beginning / end of the singletrack, which were very steep and muddy.

Chuck rode his Cutthroat and I took my Fargo, and I never once regretted my decision. It made a great AR bike for a course like this. The things I walked I also would have walked on my regular mountain bikes, and I rode plenty I didn't expect to ride.

We cleared the bike leg, but that didn't leave much time for the next trek.
4 PM

Trekking race (Trek 2) 1:00:00 [4] 1.9 mi (31:35 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia blue/mint

6 points on this leg, we only had time for the closest one. Only one team cleared the entire course, and BOR, who skipped the big bike loop in favor of the trek, still didn't have enough time to clear the trek. We tied on points, but they edged us on time. I still think we made the best decision for our strengths, our future plans, and just general fun.
5 PM

Biking race (Bike 2) 57:00 [5] 13.5 mi (14.2 mph)
shoes: 2019 Salsa Fargo

2 CP on the way back

All pavement, pretty fast and fun. We passed two teams after the turn back into the campground and then managed to hold them off until the finish. (Taking those tiny victories where I can, lol)

Running 32:17 [2] 3.0 mi (10:46 / mi) +49ft 10:36 / mi
ahr:169 max:176 rhr:45 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline 17

Another no-walking run, and each mile was faster than the previous one. I'm determined to go into PMETR with at least some consistent running mileage in the time before the race.

No walking on this run. A first in the recent past.

Other (Volleyball) 39:15 [2]

Lost all three but they were all close against a decent team. I couldn't hit for shit tonight but dug 2 out of the net and played ok otherwise.
