Jug Bay Beer Chase
Advanced Long (3 loops)

I am fairly pleased with my performance. I did about as good as I have done in the past at this event. There was a couple of guys (who were running together but that I did not recognize) that I saw repeatedly through out the course. I first saw them when I was headed from the 1st to the second control on the first loop. I saw them several more times after that, mostly during the first two loops.

I almost mispunched between the Y and Z loops. After drinking my beer I started to take off without punching the beer out control. Someone started shouting at me "Beer Out! Beer Out!" I managed to figure out what was being communicated to me, and went back and punched the control.

Loop Y Window: C-E-B-D-A

The only problem I had with the window in loop Y was when I was going from D to A. I missed control A and wound up back at control C.

Loop Z Window: W-Z-Y-X

No problems with this window. I started by finding 104 which was part of the first loop, then I headed due east from there. I headed back to the road after that and took it most of the way to control Z. I got lucky with control Y. I was in the right area, on the plateau above it and guessed right when I started heading down the embankment to look for it. A couple other orienteers led me to X once I was very close to it, the same two guys that I mentioned above.

I brought homemade Rosemary Lemon Cookies for the potluck meal after the chase. I made the dough the night before the chase and baked them the morning of the chase. I was pleased to see that most of them were eaten, 3 or 4 of them by me. I even got a few compliments on them.
