Went up to YangMing Park about an hour ride bus from the hotel. The sprint event felt much cooler and breeze and some light showers. The event site was excellent cuz they have nice restroom, showers, refreshment, media area, VIP area, information center and first aid. The president of Taiwan came to the event and gave his special plague for the 1st place woman and man. There were national television in Taiwan. We greetings some O'ers from Denmark, Hungary, Finland, Italy, Japan, Ukraine, Taiwan and Korea. Our Deaflympics photographer came along and took some pictures and will write an article online soon. Will put up AP when its ready. Soon, I will have to go TD meeting.

Got home so late last night from Open Ceremory. It was a WOW and so many fans and beautiful performances. Just found out that Taipei spent about $210 millions dollars for the Open Ceremory. See more on website http://www.usdeaflympics.org/articles/article/2009...

Then went to for 1st TD meeting with 14 different countries. It was good to see some of the coaches that I met them in 2007 Denmark.

Orienteering (Model Event) 15:10 [3]

Right after the TD meeting, all of us took a shuttle to C.K.S. Memorial Hall in downtown of Taipei for Sprint model. The C.K.S. Memorial Hall is so beautiful and huge temple and gorgerous landscaping. Mostly, O' team show up and do the model. I decided to run cuz I haven't exercise for couple of days. The model map didn't say how many km. http://sports.webshots.com/album/574507449QReHMY?v...

Orienteering 2:48:00 [3]

We all ride on taxi from Taipei Miramar Garden hotel to Yuanshan State park. Its about 20 minutes away from our hotel. Sunny and very warm and of course humid. Our O' team run on trail up the hill about 1.9km then go flat for about 1km then came down 2km. Seems our O'ers are getting to use the weather. So, tonight it will be the biggest day Open Ceremony. Please check on our Deaflympics update at http://www.usdeaflympics.com/.

Orienteering 3:18:00 [3]
shoes: Inov 8 Mudrock 280

At 7:30am, we all rode down to ShinHua Forest for our 2nd training in woods. Arrive there at 8:45am, very warm and high humid and our Deaflympics reporter came along with us to write an article. I gave her orienteering pants and gaiters to wear. Last Tuesday, we left 4 training controls there due limited time. So, each of us do a leg and the rest of us as shadow. Saw a HUGE spider on the web. The size as grapefruit. Wow! some toads, frogs and lizards but no poison snakes. Thank god! I brought my camera along in my backpack. Apparently, the humid and sweat from my back destroyed my digital camera. Shoot! Now looking for new camera. We seems getting to use the Taiwanese terrain and weather.

Orienteering (ShinHwau Forest) 3:22:45 [3]
shoes: Inov 8 Mudrock 280

About 1 hour drive south from Nice Prince hotel to ShinHua Forest park. Each of us, setup controls (3) total 12 controls. Man! the park was wiped by recently typhoon but the trails mostly are there and some of it buried. I would say the terrian is covered dark green about 50 percent of the map of the forest. Many of the terrian area are impassble. Saw a sign nearby the park entrance. It says caution poison snakes. Oh geez.. We all couldn't get through all 12 controls because the limit time for the van to pick up us. We will return on Thursday to pick up the controls.

Orienteering (Deaflympics Training) 2:15:00 [3]

At National Chung Cheng University - Chia-yi, Taiwan. We were training with climbing for about 45 minutes and stretching for about 45 minutes. There were unbelievable swamp of mesquitos so decided to quit. Also, the heat and humidity are high. Not like our Washington, DC weather.
Please check our training sprint from yesterday at http://www.usdeaflympics.com/articles/article/2009....
