Hillwalking long (Munros) 6:15:00 [1] 31.4 km (11:57 / km) +900m 10:27 / km
shoes: Brashers (Towa GTX Men's)

Fast walk in/out along the good Glen Tilt track, from Blair Atholl. Climbed up from Forest Lodge steeply, then along the plateau to the summit of Carn a'Chlamain. Went down the south ridge, rejoining the Glen Tilt track at a bridge, then back. Lovely sunny day, a bit windy on the top.

Munro #179, the full list is here: http://oobrien.com/map/munroist.php

Hillwalking (Munros) 6:30:00 [1] +1250m
shoes: Brashers (Towa GTX Men's)

The three in the Ardverikie Estate (Beinn a'Chlachair, Geal Charn, Creag Pitridh. Got a massive boost by managing to cycle right into the heart of the estate, locking my bike up at Lochan Na H Earba, so saving 6km walk in and 6km walk out. High cloud kept the sun of my back. Very dry ground so easy walking.

Ben Vane by Loch Lomond. Biked all the way into the Glen from Arrochar station, so it was a very short walk up and back down the east ridge. Afterwards, cycled up to the huge dam at Loch Sloy.

First daylight (well, twilight!) commute home of the year. Went via the towpath which despite the gloom was very busy. Entrance to Victoria Park still closed so went along and right through the park, which was again surprisingly busy considering it was now properly dark.

Orienteering race (Relay Race) 45:59 [2] **** 2.7 km (17:02 / km)
slept:7.0 (injured) shoes: Adidas Swoop 2s

Relay (3 legs x 2 people alternating) at Hradčany sandstone rocks near Doksy on the northern edge of the Czech Republic. Lovely terrain - 1:4000 map with 5m contours, sandstone cliffs and lovely forest with little vegetation. Walked (fast) around my three legs, managing a little run in places. Bit of a mistake at the first control but fairly fault-free once I got into the map. My first section is here: http://repreob.hyperlink.cz/varsity/ba.gif

Orienteering race (Varsity Match) 1:24:52 [1] **** 6.2 km (13:41 / km) +430m 10:10 / km
20c slept:8.0 (injured) shoes: Adidas Swoop 2s

Walked around the Varsity Match Men's A course at Supí Hora near Doksy on the northern edge of the Czech Republic. Lovely sunny day, pleasantly warm. As I was walking, I tended to take the direct, "interesting" routes, rather than going round - as walking would be less of a disadvantage on the straighter routes. Delighted not to have come last.

The Czech forests around here are absolutely beautiful - little undergrowth, lovely white forest - and sandstone terraces - as far as the eye can see. Even the steep slopes were a pleasure to climb. The course is here: http://repreob.hyperlink.cz/varsity/ma.gif

Orienteering (Model Race) 45:00 [1] **** 2.0 km (22:30 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2s

Model Race on sandstone scarp near Doksy in the Czech Republic. Walked the legs, and skipped a couple of controls in the middle to make it shorter. Great fun in the sandstone "cities", some scrambling required to access all the controls!
