Orienteering race (Rogaine) 8:30:00 [5] 15.0 mi (34:00 / mi)

2nd Loop of the Big Muddy Rogaine. We really were going slow on this loop. I got pretty tired during the wee hours of the morning and couldn't get my legs to turn over very fast. We decided to skip two 80pt controls that we had planned. We got back to the hash house with 4hrs to go, but my feet were killing with some very bad blisters and I was done mentally. I have ultimate respect for the people that compete in this sport. I've pretty much done a 360 coming from running the 800m on the track (a race where you devote your training time to prepare for a race that lasts less than two minutes) to competing in a 24hr gruling ultra-marathon that not only tests your body, but your mind as well. Not sure if someday, I might find myself somewhere in the middle of the two extremes...

Orienteering (Rogaine) 9:00:00 [5] 20.0 mi (27:00 / mi)

1st Loop of the Big Muddy. Matt and I were moving pretty good during this loop. I was feeling pretty good until probably around 2:00 in the afternoon and then I could feel the first sign of cramps starting to kick in. I made sure to keep getting fluids and I think I was well hydrated, but I think maybe I needed some salt and the Gatorade electrolytes just weren't enough. I kind of kept my mouth shut about the cramps, because I didn't want to let Matt down (especially since I kind of dragged him down to do this thing), but I was in alot of pain for most of the day. I kept plugging away and I was pretty happy with our pace, but I was not looking forward to going back out for a second loop. Took about 2.5hr break at the hash house and then left on loop 2 around 10:30pm...
