Essentially rode the Nimby Fifty course in Pemberton. This would be an awesome challenging race, loads of good challenging technical stuff, both up and down. Definitely worth riding again when I am back in Pemberton. Started with a long climb with some technical bits, interesting stuff and good switchbacks that had some challenge but mostly not too hard. Rode up Happy, Waco, Nimby and Let It Go. Tried to ride over the top and continue on the race course route but after hiking the bikes over snow for a while, we turned back. Went down Max Pains and Back Pains and it was awesome. A fast downhill with really steeply bermed corners - awesome stuff! Soooo grateful that I fussed with changing out the front brake pads last night even though I also had to fuss with removing some excess brake fluid in order to get the new (thick) pads to fit. The brakes were great and they were necessary; I would have died otherwise and had a miserable day. The wicked downhill also helped wear down some of the slight brake rub I had. Bart was curious about a trail called Overnight Sensation.... Will have to come back and check that out. Went over to Mosquito Lake and found more great trails there. They got just a little harder but we were also getting more into the groove, so no issues. No Err, Rock and Roll, and Cream Puff had great stuff, technical but not deadly. Some great rock slabs and roll offs that were a lot of fun. My forearms got fairly pumped out - I either need to work on the endurance of my death grip muscles, or I need to get better and relax more. Nothing too deadly, just enjoying squeezing lots of brake to keep the speed down. Out for about 5 hours, getting tired, ready to head back to the house for a break and lunch.
Revy actually snapped two cogs off the spider in his cassette on a punchy rock climb. Too much power!
I need to work on my punch more; I spent most of the first climb spinning a really light gear, not wanting to push hard. This often resulted in me tipping over on technical climb sections because I didn't have enough momentum to keep my balance. Later in the ride I was riding a gear or two higher.

Took about an hour and a half for lunch and rest before heading back out again. I keep the yawning, my body seriously wanted to nap. It has stayed dry, the trails just keep getting better even though the original forecast was suggesting we should ride early to beat the showers. Gotta ride while we can in case the weather is poor tomorrow and/or the next day. Went over to One Mile Lake. Climbed into Pioneer and then the Lumpy's loop / Lumpy's Epic. More good rock outcrops and roll offs. Traction on the rock was good after a day of no rain even though it had rained overnight. Was tired at the end of the first lap but those downhills are so fun that we decided to go up again, taking the easier pathway up and around again, and I was permitted to pedal easier if I had to. Second loop had more technical rock slabs and was a lot of fun. I feared it might be a degree harder but it was all still fine. These black diamond trails by One Mile Lake weren't too deadly.
So tired. Was insisting that I didn't want to go up again. Thank goodness the ride home was flat.
