Running 1:24:15 [3] 12.92 km (6:31 / km) +498m 5:28 / km
ahr:164 max:184 shoes: New Balance MX 530 WS

Slow run up to the the view point by the golf course via Endcliffe and Manchester Road. Muscles in feet painful to begin with, followed by inside of lower leg, eventually replaced by numbness in feet. Stretched out at the view point and felt fine all the way back. Great run!

BRC 2012 - Men's Premier 6.3km 235m climb

3rd leg on a team with Malley and Mike B.
Started off with good pace but couldn't get my head round the map so went off course on number one and lost 4 minutes on number 2 (whilst also sending Sophie in the wrong direction. Sorry!). After this my navigation was better but I felt tired and I was slow. Lost a couple of minutes on 11 by running to the wrong reentrant then my feet went numb which lasted until the end of the race.

Generally slow throughout - not helped by feet and navigational errors.
Ralph then stole my Garmin and someone's leather Jacket. Thieving bastard.

BOC 2012 - M20L 7.7km 365m climb

Had been feeling light headed all morning and this carried on for the first 4 controls. Perhaps 6 weetabix was too many. Slow to number 2 - still getting used to the map. From controls 3 - 6 the inside of my lower leg was tight and painful and this spread to the muscles in my feet. This was replaced by the usual numbness from 7 - 13. Running was very hard despite the runnability of the area.

I new before the race that Chris Nicholls was starting 4 minutes behind me and that he was my closest contender for the win. I first saw him on my way out of control 6, after which I had some route choice battles with Axel Blomquist until control 12 even though he was supposed to be on a different course. Chris caught us up Those two got ahead but missed number 12 and had to run back. I then pulled out a lead over him, eventually finishing 9 minutes ahead, winning the M20L by 5 minutes.

First time I have won a race in ages so that felt good, but I knew that if I hadn't been struggling with my feet I could have put in a time that would have been competitive on the 21S too. Also happy to have a course without any sizeable navigational errors. 21L next year!
