Orienteering (walking) 45:00 [1] **
spiked:13/13c shoes: New Mizuno wave riders

Setting & picking up controls. Lots of volunteers, which was great! Also met some new people and got feedback on my first white and yellow courses.

The event went pretty well overall, except for Magnus's shoulder. Hopefully he'll feel better soon!

Running (mostly trails/soft surfaces) 16:21 [3] 1.63 mi (10:00 / mi)

Jogged back from the meet site.

Armchair: simplification 28 [0]

Back on the wagon!
Lynn Woods red course. Technical, with a lot of variety in features. Focused on breaking up the longer legs into parts and drawing each one separately.

Note

Have gotten out of the habit of planning ahead. Here's what I need to fit into this coming week:

Buy groceries, including meat an fresh produce.

Sleep a lot.

33 miles. Mileage hasn't been an issue. I always want to run more than I've scheduled for myself!

30-minute tempo. Yikes!!! It'll definitely be a progressive tempo since I'm not used to the distance. It should definitely be on roads/trails, since I'll already have 3 days of woods training.

Long run. Will do at training camp.

Hill repeats in terrain. Can do those easily after Pia's training or at the training camp. Very low-key.

LOTS of armchair. Try to print out Ian's map of Moreau?

Charge my Garmin.

Email Alexei and get new armchair maps.

Orienteering (walking) 2:43:12 [1] *** 0.0 mi
spiked:40/40c shoes: New Mizuno wave riders

Victory #1 for the day: focusing a lot better at a walk than I was in May/June.
Victory #2: finished streamering the rest of my terrain loop!

Running (mostly hard surfaces) 44:27 [3] 4.76 mi (9:20 / mi) +77m 8:54 / mi

Easy. A little tired going up the last hill.

Running (mostly hard surfaces) 29:00 [3] 3.22 mi (9:00 / mi) +77m 8:23 / mi
shoes: New Mizuno wave riders

I felt slowwwww. Especially on the hills. Other than that, my run was pretty much fine.

shoes: New Mizuno wave riders

East on Comm Ave, right on Washington St., back on Beacon St.

Armchair: elevation map 25 [0]

Home from Katia & Giovanni's training. Also had time to do 30 min of freelance work. Yay, multitasking!

orienteering (Up-tempo) 1:00:00 [4] *** 7.06 mi (8:30 / mi)
spiked:10/12c shoes: New Mizuno wave riders

Street O' from Katia and Giovanni's house.
I stopped my watch and forgot to start it, so time is an estimate.

The street O' was surprisingly hard, possibly because I was trying to do it as a tempo. Lots of it was searching for T junctions to plan my routes off of so I didn't have to count so many streets. I made a 180 because I was so focused on other stuff besides the compass.

Armchair: control circle 10 [0]

Map from Alexei. Mostly medium-complex contours and marshes.

Step 1: draw control circle
Step 2: draw exit
