Green at Baldwin Hill. Fun! There were some technical parts with lots of small point features and contour features. I generally did pretty well. I should go back and analyze, but I'm pretty sure my largest mistake was when I picked the left option instead of the right on 9 and did a lot more climb than I had to. Other than that, the only place I could gain more than a couple minutes is fitness. So much deadfall today!

Easy jog in the morning to loosen up and start to transition into 4 days/week of running.

More fun orienteering! Nice sprint that Ed made at the playground in Newton Center. The route choice and pacing were good! I wish I'd been able to run faster, but the dark was good for making the course more difficult.

Tried to focus on keeping an image of the leg in my head instead of constantly looking at the map.

Fun re-run of a portion of the Hammond Pond course we did last week! It was nice. I came home, changed, and jogged 5 minutes to the nearest part of the map:)

My goals were:
1) Don't be afraid of the dark,
2) Think about which features I'd be able to see, and
3) Stay in very contact with the map.

Pretty successful! Last week, I had trouble staying focused and let myself get out of contact with the map. I hesitated an awful lot, but I was also fooling myself into believing that a crappy bearing would get me to the control. But today was different! Sunday, I did a really good job of planning exactly what I'd see, so I tried to stay in the same mindset today. Slower than a race, but I was practicing good habits!
