orienteering 44:19 [4] *** 5.7 km (7:46 / km)
shoes: O' Shoes

WOOHOOOO orienteering!!!! This felt good, considering I hadn't orienteered since Rochester. Starting my armchair O' back up. Spike better watch out for the Possum Trot!

Not too much to say about my course. I went straight and tried to run away from Nadim, we both made 2 mistakes, and then the rest of the way was clean. It was refreshing to do a course I could run hard on, because it let me practice good habits at a fast pace.

running 45:08 [3] 5.02 mi (8:59 / mi)
(sick) shoes: 10-12-11 Mizunos

Running from spot to spot to cheer at UAA's (intensity level 4), and then cooling down with the team (intensity level 2-3). Throat sore, less tired than I've been but still tired. Rest day yesterday definitely helped though:)

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Perfect day for a rest day! Maybe this will help my virus go away before Relay Champs:)

In the car on the way to Chicago, 15 controls from Uppsala that were ~100m, meant to prepare me for Alexei's updated exercises for me where I break the leg into parts and have 5s to look at the map for each drawing. (Very hard the first time.) There were about 2 where something was totally wrong, the rest I don't think were perfect by Alexei's standards but some were good.

Also, starting a new armchair control-count like the one Ali has for real controls. The goal is 3000 by Team Trials (I probably won't be able to make it to TT, but the point is to have a deadline). That's about 17 a day, which is very doable. I'm trying to get ahead now to prepare for finals. I'm counting anything where I plan a route and then rehearse/draw it. This includes real orienteering but not exercises like high/low, climb-counting, or our typical Skype trainings.
