running warm up/down 20 [2] 2.0 km (10 / km)

2 PM

orienteering race 30:16 [5] 5.3 km (5:43 / km) +15m 5:38 / km

St Andrews Urban Race. Late start and saw that times on my course were very fast. I knew I'd need to go flat out AND try to minimise mistakes to win. This made me a bit stressed for first few controls. Pushed the speed all the way through to the very end. Two significant mistakes. Lost around 25 secs on 5-6 when failed to see solid black line at first then had to run long way round. Lost perhaps 40 secs on 12-13 with fatigue setting in. Looked for the alleyway on the first main road rather than the second. Stunned by the effort. Won though :-)

orienteering race 1:00:30 [5] 7.5 km (8:04 / km) +145m 7:21 / km

Army event at Godshill, New Forest. Decided to practise pushing the pace a bit, rather than my usual jogging along. Good event to do this in. Hard work. Pleased with result.
