Note

Just got to enter my RG info. for Hickory run.
I drifted off my bearing 7 times (5 to the right and 2 to the left) 4 of those were partially caused by nearby orienteerers. 5 were drifts uphill, one where I got pulled off by a stream, and one being distracted by other orienteers.

My pacing is getting good. I approached several controls or features on the Stumble on my exact count. I need to focus on holding the bearing and ignore other orienteers.

Note

20 minutes in a hot tub... made me feel like jello but I was not stiff after that.

Orienteering 3:47:44 [3] 15.2 km (14:59 / km) +430m 13:08 / km
shoes: inov8 x-talon 190

Yay, I did it!
So I got home, showered and flopped on the bed with my legs in pain, somehow managed to drift off for a while. I woke to the uneasy feeling that I never started my GPS watch. When I managed to get up and check, I confirmed my suspicion. In the more that 3 1/2 hours in the woods, it never occurred to me that I did not start the watch. I even pressed stop after I finished. That was a bit disappointing as I really like to see my route. I marked my map old school while the course was still fresh in my mind but I'm sure I didn't get everything.

Major hamstring cramps with 5 controls left. I had to stop and stretch as even walking was impossible.
Julie said I should do fine if I could stay with the pack but I messed that up after control 1. :) I was just a bit too far behind the good people... following the followers and went too far to the left and past it. so I reversed the controls but never saw a group again.
Overall I'm very happy with my orienteering. I had good map contact and only missed hitting 4 or 5 controls. It was good to come back to this area after NAOC 12. I definitely remembered some of the areas. The venue was fun too, with the control windows. I was happy with my control order.
This was also my fastest O -pace since June... whitch doesn't say much for my orienteering the past three months.
