One final USports race!!! I guess I can check ‘racing in a tropical cyclone’ off my bucket list … ?

My second highest placing in 54th, 5th Mac girl. Our women’s team was 7th and our men’s team WON by almost 80 points!! What a group of incredible athletes, coached by the OUA and USports coach of the year Paula Schnurr(icane).

Absolutely crazy weather, strong winds and strong gusts, LOTS of rain. But at least it was on the warmer side. It rained hard all morning but was fairly light when we warmed up. About 3 mins to start it POURED, hardest rain I’ve ever had. But it didn’t last too long after the start. The women also raced after the men which I’ve never done, so the course was very sloppy… aka fun!

I really liked this course, nice and rolling with some fun off camber muddy corners (no falling for me in my NVii crazy light O shoes!). Lots of elements to track so I never zoned out too much.
Had an okay start, and I picked off a lot of people throughout the race. Threw some mean elbows out there on the corners for sure. I felt strong the whole race, moving up to draft off people into the wind then passing them when the wind was behind. Had my two teammates in front of me for motivation in the last 1km.

VERY happy with this race! A great way to end my varsity XC career.
