orienteering (Stars Training Camp) 1:35:00 [2]

Even though I'm not doing the Nationals I thought it would be excellent practice. Bob warmed me up en route to the start (I told him to remind me of everything he could think of in the 15 minutes we had pre-start). Once we split all I could remember was "trust your bearing..." Since Bob figured he would be out for not much more than an hour we decided after 1.5 hours I would come back.

There were a few times that I didn't trust my bearing but for the most part I had a successful afternoon. In my 1.5 hour time limit I hit controls 1-9 and then made my way to the finish. Pretty happy with my morning. Bob wasn't sure how I'd pan out at controls 3 and 4 (being uprooted tree stumps) but I had the least trouble with those two. From 5 to 6 I had a bobble since I got tempted by the manmade trails. Another bobble from 9 to home since what I thought was a 'rock pile' was in reality a vegetation line.

Happy with my day. Decided to end on a positive note and do a trail run while Bob did the Johnson Tract session.
